Grief is unavoidable. Sooner or later, it hits you
like a supernova. Day turns into grey,
night dense and oppressing.

In this Dark Night of the Soul, we wallow
in the pond if despondency, striving for a light 
at the end of the tunnel. 

 (Hope is the thing with feathers—
that perches in the soul).

Sad melody from the depths of the soul,
wayward thoughts moving in chiaroscuro,
groping for the light in this Bardo of despair.
