Flying the flag for Brazilian drum and bass, producer Dunk introduces himself on the Program platform through a brand new four track EP which zones in on the darker side of his local influences.

From start to finish the 'Boogie EP' packs a punch and this time it's through moody, dark atmospherics alongside chains of creeping basses. Starting with the painstakingly built layers of 'Glow' and the woven percussive slabs of 'Soldier Boy', it's a ruminating selection of tracks. Following suit is the ominous sounds of 'Flying Saucers' and the dreamlike whirring of the EP's title-track, closing the collection with a brooding aftertaste. So once again, it's time to get with the Program. Self-proclaimed 174-year-old Mark Dinimal rounds off 2020 on one of our favourite labels: Swiss-based imprint Drum Army. Described by RAM Records as 'one of the most exciting acts to break ranks from the wave of new producers which has hit contemporary drum & bass', Dinimal has proved time and time again that he's an incredibly talented, technically-gifted producer who particularly likes sitting pretty in that deep, minimal bracket on releases for ProgRAM, Vandal, Hyperactivity, SINE and more. Aside from that sound, he's also shown a wilfully experimental edge, evidenced in full on this latest EP. Perhaps the most out-there of the lot is 'The Only Techno I Ever Made', a sumptuous 145bpm cut that sees him drift outside of his comfort zone and summon a contemporary breakbeat number of the highest calibre, packed full of that aggressive Dinimal punch and thwack we've come to expect from the much in-demand Fabriclive resident. A very merry Christmas indeed.
