I got back into music after the split with my lifelong wife and friend and myself in 2016. This would be the first song out of the beginning of five years of self evaluation. Many tears are the foundation to many composer's music. When I had originally recorded this I was in a very confused and hurtful position. On the original recording my voice cracks from the emotional stress of the song but I thought it was appropriate at the time and I left it in. I was told that she felt I didn’t Love her anymore. I told her that I will tell the entire world just how much I love you. That I did. All this music is mostly my love letters to my Wife. When I perform live I will call my show that ‘Love Letters to my Wife’. To whom all this was created for. I am a Cancer which makes me a Crab. When I grab on to something I don't let go to the point of loss of limb.

i figured the version I posted recently had actually sounded better as a composition that's 5 min 30 sec. rather than a 7 min. rant.  Not to mention I actually consider it a classic, not sure why I never promoted it, but mad props to Illicit Audio, I forgot how much I enjoyed this one.

My name is Dave Hanrahan. I was born and raised in Watertown, Massachusetts. I was the only son in a family of four children. At 7 years old my father passed away suddenly. I was the only son and now I would navigate my life rudderless. In the house of estrogen. It was the week the Beatles played Ed Sullivan, February 9, 1964. Thus tying my life to theirs. Instant male role models. 

At 20, I was serving in the Navy. I was stationed at NAS Whidbey Island, Wa. In 1976. When I was heading into my barracks I heard someone playing Hotel California across from me. I met my mentor that day, Terry Walters. I bought a Yamaha 6 string acoustic guitar and one music book. The Beatles Compleat. I practice for hours upon hours. After a few months I wanted to try writing. On my first attempt I wrote 3 songs.  I believe I found patterns in playing only the Beatles for those first few years. I was off and running. 

I am a singer/songwriter from a different era. I had written close to 80 songs when I laid everything down to become a husband and a father in 1989. I laid it down because I desired a family more then anything in life, certainly more then fame.  My Guitar I had written the majority of those songs on was stolen and I walked away. 

In November of 2019, I unpacked my instruments after a 30 year hiatus. I bought a Taylor 12 String and began to earn my calluses. I wasn't certain if I could even recall the chords to most of my music. It was all in my head. I can't read or write a note to this day. Muscle memory I was happy to find is a fact even after 30 years. My musician friend Dean when I told him my 1977 Giannini Craviola 12 String got stolen in 1987. He asked me if I checked eBay. This is 32 years later. That is a rare guitar. I went on eBay that day and found it. It was my serial number. 

I began practicing countless hours a day for about six weeks when suddenly, a song popped into my head. It was in a style that even I was unfamiliar with. My Giannini and I picked up where We left off. Then Covid gave me more time to practice. I haven't stopped writing since that day just over three and a half years ago. I have well over 50 more songs to produce to ensure my entire catalog has been recorded. I have that many on my page for all to hear now for free.

To create a new Music Industry run and operated by Human Artists only. I am a Life Path 1, so have no doubt I will get it done or it’s artificial intelligence soulless Muzak for everybody. New artist are being ignored. This is by design. Music comes from the heart. Filled with emotions which A. I. The heartless, soulless machine with never be able to produce. Music is a force of creation given by The Creator. The Authentic Intelligence God. 

I am here to do a job, At my juncture in life I hope it obvious it isn’t for the fame and fortune. We are musicians and artists first and foremost. We are those who help steer the collective consciousness. I picked up this mantle in December of 1980. The night I wrote ‘Dear John’. Music is a force for creation.
