Get Down Edits founder Darren 'Dazz' Dalton dons his solo Jisco Dazz alias for a fine outing on his own imprint. He's in sample-rich original production mode on 'Slap That Bass', adding Wurtlitzer style organ licks, jaunty pianos, dreamy chords and eyes-closed female vocal samples to a weighty bassline and smooth deep house bass. The accompanying remix package is pleasingly solid too. Dalton's Get Down Edits project delivers a more low-slung, funk-fuelled house revision that makes more of the killer bassline and vocal samples, before Noden slaps down (sorry) a rolling dub disco-meets-deep house rework and Stephen Richards gives the track a sunnier and more soulful garage-house feel.

Taken from Dave Lee & Maurissa Rose’s chart-topping album ‘London / Detroit’, released earlier this year, we have the modern boogie version of Johnnie Taylor’s soul classic ‘What About My Love’, a standout track from the LP and freshly reworked from the original album cut. On remix duties, we see a meeting of giants as we are treated to two huge versions from Michael Gray who bumps the tempo and takes the source parts into HOUSE territory, priming it for the peak time & guaranteed to light a fire under the dancefloor. For those who like it a bit more stripped back and looped up, look no further than the Dub version. All killer, no filler here!

A wide-ranging four-tracker from Sunner Soul here. The summery, Spanish-vocalled 'Disco Estrada' - all fat bass and disco guitar chops - kicks us off, followed by the sumptuous, string-laden 'Make My Dreams', the EP's most authentically 70s-sounding jam with its handclaps and chorus'd vox. We then take something of a left turn with the self-explanatory 'Jazz With Friends', before 'Between Moods', which bites Snoop's vocal from Tha Eastsidaz' 'Ghetto', plays us out in hazy, lo-fi hip-hop mode. Yours truly will admit to being a fan generally but with this EP, the St Petersburg native has truly excelled himself.
