Dawn of Apples - Discography

I made this song in about 9 hours during FORM's All Nighter 7 charity event! It was sort of a spur-of-the-moment decision for me to participate in it, but I'm really glad I did, since it finally pushed me to actually finish a song. The only changes I made since the weekend of the event were a couple of samples cutting out that I'd missed, a couple of reverb swells I added to fill space, and mixing/"mastering" changes. (mastering is in quotation marks because I don't really know what I'm doing)

For some reason I was really set on using the Dorian mode somewhere in the song, and so I wrote chords for the second drop first, and then with an underwater theme in mind, I tried to make everything else really brooding, yet really pretty at the same time, like fluorescent deep sea creatures. Also I have no clue how the intro chords came about, but I really liked them, so they got to stay.

Constructive criticism is very much welcomed and appreciated, just keep in mind, again, first song, 9 hours, y'know, all that. But thank you for listening! I hope you like it!

Dawn of Apples - ENTROPY

Fliptochrome!! The original Cryptochrome is by far my favorite song that came out in 2022. Around a month ago while walking to class, I was playing it in my head at house tempo, improvising some changes to fit a 4 on the floor pattern, and something about it really clicked with me. It started as just a quick little experiment to see what it would sound like, but I had so many ideas that it eventually grew into a full song!

I wasn't sure what to call this exactly; it's not really a remix, since the drops mostly use the original song, but I'd like to think it's more than just an edit, so I settled for flip.  I also feel like I learned a lot about mixing/mastering while working on this too, so I'm glad I saw it through to the end. Hope you enjoy!!

(feel like I should also add that neither the original nor this version has anything to do with a certain chain of blocks, it's just a word that sounds cool)

Au5 - Cryptochrome (Dawn of Apples Flip)

My first time hearing the original song was in my DAW at around midnight, with the stems freshly downloaded. I just kept looping it over and over again, soloing different combinations of instruments, and something about that listening experience really struck a chord with me. I hope I was able to transcribe that magic into this remix, and I hope you enjoy.

I initially wanted to have this finished in time to celebrate the release of Chime's album Aetherborne, but I kind of let time get away from me. This song has always felt like it would fit right into the Aetherborne world, at least aesthetically, and it's one of my personal favorites of theirs, so I wanted to make a version that's a bit more relaxing; to really let you immerse yourself in the soda. Bottoms up!
