Here, psychedelia and dub play a pretty key role, blending in with tribal and acidic sounds, feeling like an introduction to a club night.

You don’t need to know where you’re going anymore.
It’s enough to drift, to dissolve, to listen.

Swiss producer Ben Kaczor and Swedish producer Martinou have been tracing parallel lines across the deeper shades of house and techno for over a decade. What began as a connection through SoundCloud has since bloomed into an understated, sonic kinship — now embodied in their joint alias: Terik Hensen.

With Nothing Feels Like Before, the 31st edition in the Discos Movimiento mix series, the duo opens a portal into something restrained yet expansive. A meditative flow of dub-inflected grooves and minimal percussion that moves like breath — steady, intimate, and full of space.

It’s not a beginning or an end.
Just a moment. A shift. A subtle unfolding.
And maybe that’s enough.

After an extended pause for much needed rest and slow reflection, the Patterns of Perception crew is excited to return to our mix series with fresh energy and a stellar new mix from Jasmin, aka softi (@jazz_brown). 

Soulful, breezy and groove-laden, softi's Patterns of Perception 122 shimmers with her kaleidoscopic, minimal sound. Weightless sparks float and flicker in dim light. Time dilates; seasons drift.

A few thoughts from Jasmin:

Hey Jasmin, how’s it going? What's been happening for you lately?
I’m well, I’m currently living between Lisbon and London this summer which has been a dream! Great food, beach sessions and writing music. It’s been a wild 3 months and I’m just getting myself ready for the seasons changing!

What can you tell us about your mix?
For this mix I wanted to mould my love of groovy minimal and psychedelic tones for the moody season ahead, which is usually my signature sound! I have been producing a lot of this recently and some of my unreleased bits are exclusively inside 💜

⁠Is there a track or tracks that are extra special for you?
I’d probably say my own productions are the special to me as it reminds me of how much I have developed as a producer and artist. I love connecting with the tracks and being able to create my own atmospheric world for listeners to get lost in. But one track that I always come back to is "bluep" by Underground City Loop (a producer from Aus). I have been playing this track for years and it has every sonic element you'd want from a track - low end sub groove with dark melodic synths.

Welcome the 100th chapter of the Deep Electronics Podcast. 

First of all I want to thank all artists that have participated with this serie but also the artists that created the Ambient Sessions and the Showcase serie. Without your love for music, mixing, producing and more, this project wasn’t possible. And a big thank you to all listeners, followers and fans!!!

Starting in February 2013 with the idea to combine photography and deep electronic music together I never thought about it that it would come this far! I even started a netlabel on Bandcamp in the early 2014. The podcast series also involves a lot of contacts all over the globe. Finding producers and DJ’s that want to share there music. Thank you for that!
I hope for the near future that I expand the netlabel and spread more mixes

But for now I present you the 100th  chapter mixed by Deepchord. Thank you Rod for making this happen!!

Bio:

Rod Modell (a.k.a. Deepchord) is a sound-designer with 25 years involvement in electronic music and over 50 releases under various aliases and styles. Beginning with more "industrial" and "ambient" forms of sonic experimentation (working with Kim Cascone and his -then- record-label Silent, and performing with notable industrial acts such as Chris & Cosey and SPK). While attending Art School for Photography, Rod lived in Detroit's Eastern-Market area, the location of the infamous "techno boulevard", and home to Derrick May, Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson during that time. Submersed in the blossoming Detroit Techno scene (early 1990's), a journey from a more experimental sound into Detroit's techno-world was inevitable. Modell co-founded the Deepchord record label in Detroit during the mid-90's. Deepchord respected and admired (fellow Detroiters) Underground Resistance for their D.I.Y. attitude and independence. It was because of this respect and admiration that Deepchord declined offers from top techno labels of the time, in favor of doing it by themselves. Many consider Deepchord to be the second wave of the "Basic Channel sound", and came years before the onslaught of imitators.

Deep Electronics Podcast # 100 - Deepchord

Until he launched his own Radio Matrix label with a clever and conceptual series of EPs in 2014, Delta Funktionen was exclusively tied to Dutch stable Delsin and its sub labels. It is there that he has roamed from techno to electro to dub, and there that he has put out a string of EPs and coherent full length over the last decade. Unlike many of his underground peers, Delta isn’t too serious and likes to have fun when DJing, so can go hard and fast or deep and warm according to the context. He often marries analogue and digital techniques in his work, takes cues from traditional hotbeds like Detroit and Chicago, but always comes correct with his own unique perspectives.  

Across the course of 75 absorbingly sci-fi minutes, the Dutchman cooks up a cinematic ride through deep space atmospherics, electronic funk and slick electro. The latter half grows more disturbed and dystopian, but there is always a very real and metallic aesthetic to the seamlessly segued sounds that ties the whole thing together with real narrative.
