~ About The Story ~

I need the sea because it teaches me,
I don’t know if I learn music or awareness,
if it’s a single wave or its vast existence,
or only its harsh voice or its shining
suggestion of fishes and ships.
The fact is that until I fall asleep,
in some magnetic way I move in
the university of the waves.
It’s not simply the shells crunched
as if some shivering planet
were giving signs of its gradual death;
no, I reconstruct the day out of a fragment,
the stalactite from a sliver of salt,
and the great god out of a spoonful.
What it taught me before, I keep. It’s air
ceaseless wind, water and sand.
It seems a small thing for a young man,
to have come here to live with his own fire;
nevertheless, the pulse that rose
and fell in its abyss,
the cracking of the blue cold,
the gradual wearing away of the star,
the soft unfolding of the wave
squandering snow with its foam,
the quiet power out there, sure
as a stone shrine in the depths,
replaced my world in which were growing

A Journey (by the fire next to the river in the valley):

"walking in wooded valley of a mountain near a stream. You can hear the water, the chirping of birds, rattles of the crickets and croaks of the frogs among your footsteps crackling the leaves As you walk around the landscape and return to your campfire, you are accompanied by ancient spirits and natural familiars who guide you and help you find the inner resonance. As chill of night is settling in, warmth of the fire hugs you, and the crackle-and-woo of the burning logs play in a symphony with the sounds of the river... You walk to the other side of the fire and sit under the clear sky. As hours near morning, you feel a certain clarity, as if you have accomplished something important, something that rejuvenated you, and you feel ready".

This piece is part of the art exhibit commissioned by the Global Liver Institute, and displayed in the 2017 conference by the Society of Interventional Radiology.

What you hear is a sound collection, a short journey to the elements of nature, from water to fire, to borrow their healing energies. In this presentation, the root note has a tonal frequency of 317.83Hz, a tone associated with liver's excitement. This frequency is close to the note Eb, which is the root note for many ancient healing and repentment chants. In its own way, meditating to this tone will allow you to let go. The modulations to this sound are based on the golden ratio of 1.68 and the average schumann resonance of earth, 7.83Hz. The gong-like sounds present you with a moment of reality. The crackle of fire, crunch of leaves as you walk in the woods and the deep heart and throat songs help you cleanse. Powerful chants represent the mental journey, as the sounds of nature around you represents the physical journey. Enjoy the moment near your campfire by the river!

Campfire at the edge of the woods, close to the beach. All begins with a rain shower but suddenly the sky becomes cloudless. Lying on your back, watching the starlit sky, listening the campfire crackling, the sound of waves crashing to shore. You enter the imaginarium, dreaming of distant galaxies. Beyond starlit skies, beyond gravity, right to the point where the music takes over…everything.

Campfire Stories 57 (Inside the Imaginarium) by Silent Wanderer

The marine forms abound in the sea depths, in marshes which are flooded at high tide, in shallow inlets and the muddy bottoms underlying the sandy surface of the seashore. The fresh water forms are plentiful on the mossy stones of mountain streamlets, pools bordering rivulets, dripping rocks.

DeepWarmth is James Shain who started making music back in 2008 as lilmanjs with Ambient, Downtempo and IDM. Along the way the DeepWarmth alias sprung up for his stuff with Beats including more experimental stuff concering Drone infused beatwork. Now making music as DeepWarmth and James Shain for all Ambient, he strives to showcase his love for Ambient. José’s is an experimental sound artist, recordist and a self-taught composer based in Tula, Hidalgo MX. Working in the field of ambient / minimal noise, and his compositions explores the balance between electronics and random environmental sounds, using acoustic and electronic processed sources and field recordings.

He participated at many spaces, projects and live concerts sorrounded by different artists around the world, such as: Pablo Reche, Juan José Calarco, David Escallón, Alma Laprida, Malcolm Delaney, Israel and Diego Martínez, Mauricio Sotelo (PCCL), Darren McClure, Pepo Galán, Toby Driver, Pavesa, Sarmen Armond among many others. He has also participated in different curated projects and performances at museums, galleries and cultural venues in Argentina, Panama, UK and Mexico. He has also collaborated in record labels such as: Shimmering moods, Whitelab recs, Ediciones ÉTER , WOS, Abolipop / Suplex, Voragine, Dronarivm, FAINT, ACR, Transvection LTD among many more.

Darren McClure is a sound artist living in Matsumoto, Japan. His work focuses on texture, space and atmosphere. Sound sources are both analogue and digital, hardware and software, incorporating found sounds and field recordings to lend an organic, tactile quality to the pieces. His main intent is to create sound to both zone out to and zone into, a balance of widescreen drones and more minimal, abstract ambience.

He has released solo and collaborative work on a number of labels, across various formats. His music has also been used in conjunction with video work and documentary shorts.

Luigi Turra (b. 1975) is a minimalist electroacoustic composer living and working in Italy. His main interest is in the aural balance between silence and tactile perception of sound. Trough the manipulation of concrete and acoustic sources, he develops acoustic paths in which listeners experience continuous pauses and subtly abrasive sound tensions. Starting from the capture of small sounds and noises, Luigi Turra creates pieces of music, that are references to beauty of the imperfection and to the beauty of the transitory.
His work is published from labels such as LINE (US), mAtter (JP), Non Visual Objects (AT), and/OAR (US), Silentes (IT), Dragon’s Eye Recordings (US), 901 Editions (IT) and Trente Oiseaux (IT).

Isaque Solaris Is The Space Between

(Story continued from Witchtape #31)
That morning the little witch was in a frisky mood when performing her daily inspection round in her forest.  It was one of the first days of March and while walking barefoot in the ice-cold mud, she sensed that spring was slowly awakening, with all the birds vigorously singing their best songs at dawn.  The young witch started to sing a sweet song while walking gracefully through the woods, making sure not to trample any snow drops or crocus flowers.  But then all of a sudden she froze while her heart skipped a beat.  In the middle of the still leafless forest she spotted a completely green tree which hadn’t been there one day before.  She quickly realized this was the little oak tree which she planted 2 years earlier (in witchtape #22).  This tiny tree was destined to become the mother tree of the forest and was poised to live for over a thousand years.  Yet, during the two years after planting, it had barely grown taller, although the badgers (who had dug an elaborate network of burrows and tunnels around the tree) had reported some intense root activity during the winter.  The roots of the future mother tree were easy to recognize as they emitted a pleasant pinkish glow in the dark tunnels of the badgers sett.
The girl cautiously approached the tree and noticed it had grown prodigiously during the last 24 hours and on top of that it was fully covered with fresh green leaves.  This was in complete contrast with all the surrounding trees which were still without leaves.  She stretched out her hand, and when touching the tree, hundreds of blue flowers magically started to bloom simultaneously all over the tree (which is quite amazing given the fact that oak trees are not supposed to bear blue flowers).  And more amazingly, the immaculately white dress of the witch had changed into a beautiful blue color and flowers were blooming on her dress and even in her long brown hair, while the branches of the tree started to move and some twigs hugged the girl tenderly.  The witch and the tree engaged in a tender embrace, and all of a sudden the girl felt connected with every living being and every stone of the whole forest, experiencing an overwhelming amount of endless love.  Meanwhile all birds had stopped singing and held their breath…

His deep interest in the finer details of sound is evident in his own music and the label he runs that most recently released Haji K’s quiet stunner of a record “Black Against An Orange Line”. Justin is also an avid digger of Australian music, and has some very exciting projects in relation to that coming up soon. His most recent album “Chasms” was released on Angoisse in February of this year and comes highly recommended!

In the shimmering sunlight the city was a transparent lake, but as the sun crept down the city dissolved into a veiling grey horizon. I remember the faint remoteness as I stared out to my hometown of Los Angeles. I had recently moved back home and had expected for the rush of nostalgia to bloom into a previous self. However, there was instead a stillness that seemed to be waiting for something. The rolling hills before me arched up and down but only seemed to descend. The moments that followed dilated around me and I took solace in knowing that I was truly happy again.

This progression of music tries to embody the slowed and slurred first moments of my days rediscovering Los Angeles and the unintentional ebb and sway of finding myself again. A gradually looping state of lethargy breaks out into its own speed and dance.
