One year ago today, @hannah-pezzack and me were scheduled to play at a secret open air in Berlin to celebrate Mayday. Sadly, due to polizei interference, our plans were foiled. So instead we set up shop at home, uncorked three bottles of champagne (did we? Or was it cheap Prosecco?) and played all of our most cosmically silly tracks. The result? 2 hours of Spring time psychedelic energy, very drunk transitions, mutant disco, saxophones, William Burroughs dub, and a track about pirates in a bathtub all alongside an FX called The Black Hole.

De Kat Memwa as a mix series was created with the intention of promoting a diverse range of genres and bringing together selectors who are not entertaining but inspire and surprise the curious listener. Issue 49, which features the recordings of Sallad Egg, is a perfect example of this ethos. In my sonic paradigm, Sallad Egg is a true DJ's DJ, whose tracks transport me to a different musical universe I have never been to before. Additionally, in my opinion, Sally's background as a trained artist working with different materials allows her to create truly unique musical soundscapes.

It's worth noting that I typically become acquainted with the selectors who contribute to the series through the Internet and sometimes meet them in person later on. However, my experience with Sally was completely the opposite! I had the pleasure of meeting her in person in February 2020, thanks to our mutual friend and the talented Welsh musician and young father, Daf aka @zetazetamusic! 
Looking forward to hanging out together again!

De Kat Memwa is a mix series which aims to cherish talented artists from all over the world who are seeking to promote non-obvious music through thoughtful storytelling! 

De Kat Memwa is curated by Prince of Gosplan (Kirill O.) who is also performing as a DJ under the eponymous name.

De Kat Memwa is a resident of Malmö-based @retreatradio with (non-)ambient show 'Deep Relief' and collaborative experimental dance music show 'Ordealia' w/ @jonteprippz 

In the beginning, in addition, to the mix series De Kat Memwa was extended as DJ's trio with the participation of @andrew-lipa & @andreykalder. All the founding members are disseminated between Sweden, Germany and the USA which makes a collective performance impossible. However, altogether we are involved in the curation and production of 'Deep Relief' show!
