Just me fucking about in the studio with only modular gear. Nothing is prepared (except the patch) or preconceived, no editing or post production of any kind, so just rough-n-ready as it comes, worts-n-all. 

Really this is just for the interest of synth geeks, and in particular wiggler geeks. And for me to document what i've been doing/learning with the modular. 

Do not expect finished tracks, these are noodlings at best.

Live Modular (geek stuff)

Day 1, 3rd Recording. Live modular wiggling.

First day of owning the MakeNoise Shared System. This is my third jam with it and also the third recording. The other recordings where a drone for the first one and a less impressive version of this plinky plonkness (consider that recording as a warm-up for this one) ;-) - those recordings will get used in other compositions. This upload though I wanted to keep in the spirit of the shared system series.

This recording is just me getting used to using the system and is inspired by the youtube tutorials by MakeNoise.

The verb is provided by the Valhalla Halls card in a Z-DSP. 

No other processing has been done.

The RF Nomad Techno 01 track I uploaded earlier was actually made from edits of a longer recording. This is a snippet of that live recording with no editing.

The original recording is something like 45 mins long, so this is just a approx. 8 min section of that longer recording that I thought rounded out nicely as a "track".

You can hear I bring the bass drum in a little too loud and had to back off straight away. Its also a little too boxy sounding for my taste.

This recording isn't meant to be a polished track at all, its just me trying out the RF Nomad in a more rhythmic way to see how I could potentially utilised it in the future; so i'm trying out the CV IN for the first time, I'm actually using 1 v/oct pitch CV to create pseudo notes at times (obviously there wont be any proper scale as such, but still I thought it would be interesting to hear the effect). I'm also using an ENV/VCA to shape the Nomad.

Everything you hear here is just a Mutant Bass Drum doing a very simple 4/4 pattern and a TR-808 closed hat on the off beats. The rest is all the RF Nomad. As you can hear its quite capable of doing some good percussion with a tight ENV and with the CV catching it just right. 

I did this recording during the day when I dont seem to pick up much radio chatter, which is a shame because I was hoping to pick up some spookyness. I will have to do this test again during the evening/night when I might pick up some distant voices as well.
