After a stand out compilation release in 2020, in support of Black History Month Norway, Oslo based collective & label, Det Gode Selskab hit launch with another extensive release this autumn. Accompanying the release will be an exciting NFT campaign in collaboration with Berlin based artist and illustrator German Bardo, which will be announced in due course.   The essential sampler will consist of 24 tracks split across several releases throughout the next period. You can expect a host of Norwegian talent, and artists that have inspired and influenced the DGS journey thus far. 
To initiate proceedings there will be a double single teaser release of sophisticated jazz gloop by Third Attempt, giving you a warm and inviting welcome to the string of releases. From an extremely young age Third Attempt made an instant impression on the Norwegian scene, and beyond, his smooth and tight productions maneuver between ambient, jazz, trip hop and house, and both are these tracks are a prime example of his genre bending studio work. "Hacking Jazz" boasts crisp drum work, futuristic yet nodding towards the nostalgic sounds and influences of the past. "Designer Breaks" rides an irresistible and funky groove that grips you and takes you down a path of luscious percussion textures and elements. 
 
This release inaugurates what is set to be an exciting project for the Det Gode Selskab collective as they explore further creative avenues, expanding their ideas and opportunities in the coming years, showcasing underground sounds yet simultaneously embracing movements of modern day society. The double header from Third Attempt will see the light of day on the 17th of September.

Welcome to the club, Kinki Pinki - a playful character that can entertain the crowd for hours, containing a sweet taste of summer we all love, Strawberry. A juicy and jam-packed selection of tracks from Third Attempt, Mike Shannon, Philipp Boss & Kuyateh, Alex Jangle & MatZtaM, San Andreas, and founding member of Det Gode Selskab, Chris Solaris.

First up is a track from the teaser release, Third Attempt, “Designer Breaks”. Next up is  “8’nt At All Bothered” from label regular, Mike Shannon. The Berlin based Canadian providing a funk laden soundtrack. Floaty ethereal synths manoeuvre their way around a snappy electro body in “Wide Pop” from Philipp Boss & Kuyateh. Packing an energetic punch is the lively encounter “Pez” by Alex Jangle & MatZtaM, a glitchy and pacey number to take things up  a gear. SanAndrea steps up to the plate with a futuristic Drum & Bass fusion entitled “Mind Domain”. 

This part comes to a close with label co-founder, Chris Solaris, he puts forward a deep and emotive trip with his track “Sitter”, the creeping bass stalking you around the dance floor.

Third Attempt - Designer Breaks

Please meet - Winki Melon, your amusing wingman packed full of excitement and energy. The third, mouthwatering Slimy Gumball flavour from the Det Gode Selskab this winter. Combining with the reveal of their third character the DGS team have invited a host of talent to showcase the juicy sounds within. The next instalment features tracks from Oslo hero Karl Fraunhofer, label co-founder Tod Louie, the legendary Jay Tripwire & JayBee, The Unwanted, Ruuny, and Nattswerm. 

“Rythme Discret” from label regular Karl Fraunhofer creeps mysteriously in the night, meandering through different shades of minimalist and modular vibes. Tod Louie’s “667” is a quirky, energic house number with a certain spring in its step, leading you down the path of the unknown. Next up is Jay Tripwire and JayBee’s ‘FM Ville’, slick and hypnotic sounds from two veterans in the game. The Unwanted deliver further curious output with their “LND” track. Cruising on a rolling arrangement is Ruuny’s “On Time”, banging house music for peak timers. Closing proceedings of the Winki Melon chapter is Nattsverm with his “Døden Av Ymir”, nodding towards a more techno tip with a hint of lo-fi, proving the versatility in the flavours of this series.

SLIMIX #3 - Chris Solaris & Kinki Pinki (Det Gode Selskab)

Can you feel it? It’s the “Rush Fantasy”…Striking whilst he is hot is Berlin based Norwegian - Henriku. He follows on from his sought after “New York Popcorn” EP with another atmospheric house and minimal exploration, laced with distinct rave energy. The animated four-track vinyl lands on Oslo based, Det Gode Selskab, an ongoing chemistry between artist and label have led to this hedonistic trip, captivating club sounds from a producer in his element. Live out your fantasy, and your wildest dreams.

Taking the lead is “I Do”, a seductive trip of house nostalgia, driven by chunky drums and a pulsating bass line, teased into the trip by the provocative vocals. The title track “Rush Fantasy” strips things back mechanical minimalistic movements converse with a hypnotic sub heavy bass, swaying under the influences of the after party.

On the flip is another steamy encounter with “Pillow Talk”, the vintage samples go hand in hand with the rugged and raw energy of the track. Mysterious textures melt your mind in “Nicotine 4 U”, a smoky vibe for the small hours of the night.

Henriku’s free spirit lives up perfectly to the DGS ethos, a safe haven for artistic freedom, making this a perfect home for the “Rush Fantasy” experience. “It Feels Sooo Good!!”.

She invited her favorite vinyl-collectors Tod Louie & Dick Dennis for a vvinyl b2b session. Louie, the farm boy who eventually swapped the pitchfork for a pair of Technics 1210s and Dick Dennis the rude city boy and grand son of a butcher and a poet. What could happen?

This is a celebration of "Trixie", for some it might be famous or a myth. From New York House, through classic Trance and Freddie Mercury to modern biscuits and back again to NRG Disco. It's perfect, it's wrong, it's rude and its hilarious. Most of all a journey through Tod Louie & Dick Dennis' record collection. 

PS: This is a live DJ set from Ingensteds February 2022, right after the pandemic. The first party when we could open. A lot of energy, a lot of feelings, a lot of new and old music!

Enter Chris Solaris, a luminary in the realm of DJing whose introspective sets floats between time and space.

His inspiration is hailing from the vibrant streets of London were he lived and found a deep connection with house, Solaris is one of the founding member of Det Gode Selskab. His sonic footprint resonates deeply, seamlessly blending warm atmospheric pads with meticulously crafted grooves.

With a career spanning 25 years, his DJ sets is about orchestrating moments of musical connection. After all, in his world, the only thing that matters is the music.

DGS 24 // 01 - Chris Solaris (Det Gode Selskab)

Year on year Oslo based party starting outfit Det Gode Selskab provide us with a jam packed sampler featuring artists from their collective, family and affiliates of the label, but also welcome a flurry of new artists on board each time. Split into 4 parts spread across the next few months the sampler kicks off with a heavyweight package curated by Jack himself.

Heading up part one is Lazy Pete, label regular Henriku, Rex Ronny, Alm, a return for Philip Hinz, alongside Herman Crantz, and last but not least, Koloniari. The beautiful, deep, house-energy in Lazy Pete's opening track "She's A Replicant (Underground Mix)" sets the stage, before you are hit with the huge drums and peak time action of Henriku's "To The Mountains". Conga time with pulsating bass action. Dreamy synths lead the way in the aptly named "Cheese Police" from Rex Ronny. Hitting the nail on the head is also "Acid House Party '' by Alm, squelchy acid tones breathing life into the housey drum patterns. Let's Jack. Teasing further rave action is Philip Hanz & Herman Crantz with "Stay", a driven outing looking to lift the energy of the floor. Direct house music nostalgia in "Believe In Love", the offering from Koloniari, beautiful keys conversing with the slick motion of the track, classy vocal samples flashing in and out.

This is just the beginning of this enormous sampler, so let's hit the floor and get down to some of Jack's favourites!

As we enter the second chapter of the Det Gode Selskab 2023 sampler, they call on an array of familiar faces and also explore uncharted territory with a host of new additions to the label. Spearheading part two into the digital stratosphere is a welcome return for Trulz & Robin, AZIBI 89, Paris based Bassam, Kizi 404, family member A:G, and in house beatmaker Karl Fraunhofer. Come on, let’s Jack.

Trulz & Robin ignite the flight with some modular bassline heaven in “Jiggi Dante”, making you move from the off, driven by the vocals used by the pair. AZIBI 89 enters the floor with a progressive and dreamy trip, “Sounds From The Terrace”, maneuvering between uplifting energy and rumbling direct rave action. Bassam’s minimalistic approach is fascinating in “Untitled”, simmering mechanical movements rocking the club. “No More Business With Eastern Partners'' from Kizi 404 is ultimate dance floor frenzy, pacey and glitch broken drums nodding towards the heyday of breakbeat. Tripped out electro is a sound that has become synonymous with the prolific Norwegian A:G in recent years, no change here as he showcases his mysterious vibe once more. Heads down, arms up. Karl Fraunhofer closes part two with “Higher”, bubbling motions and ravey beeps and bleeps looking to steer the floor into fifth gear.

DGS coming in with some live and direct energy with part two of their sampler, quality club sounds for your collection! Part three and four landing early 2024.

This summer (3rd July) Oslo based promoters and acclaimed record label, Det Gode Selskab will release their 2020 sampler on Bandcamp. The first in what is set to become an extensive list of contemporary annual samplers from the imprint. After several years of business, earning their stripes as a vital part of night culture in Norway, the tight knit set up pride themselves on their open minded, family-like community, a stronghold at the forefront of the gay and queer community in Oslo. Standing in solidarity, striving to educate and reignite the unforgettable history of house music and the avalanche effect it has had on modern dance music. An effect which should never be tarnished, but echoed time and time again. House music from the start, in spaces such as US warehouses in the 80’s, have always provided a safe haven for black, queer and alternative people, paving the way for the people of today, a space for freedom, allowing creativity to flourish.

Enhancing their strong beliefs, and what they strive to achieve as a whole, acknowledging the effect that disco, house, hip hop, funk, soul, jazz and rock has had on modern society, the sampler release will work towards donations for Black History Month Norway with 50% of sales in July being donated to them, going towards further operations and developments of the project.
