Cyber Party ft Radix

"Phased Out" is the title music of the C64 game "Phase Out". The game was supposed to take part in the 16K cartridge game development compo on RGCD.co.uk, but was not finished before the deadline unfortunately.
It was composed on a C64 with 8580 SID chip. The tune was directly recorded from the original composing machine with two 85080R5 SID chips installed. Enjoy ^_^

"Gravity Lens" was composed on a C64 with 8580 SID by dEViLOCk. The tune was made for a C64 crack intro by Total Chaos of Noice/F4CG.
It was directly recorded from a real C64 machine without post processing. No samples used, pure SID.

The last 6 months or so I've been rather picky on what gigs to accept as I'm devoting all my time to Kubbi material, studies and other projects. In March I was invited to do a track for this new and very promising project called INDIEBOX and these guys instantly caught my attention.

For the IndieBox package of May, I wrote this little jam based on the soundtracks and themes from this month's game "Teslagrad". A lovely game with lovely music and, seeing the producers are norwegian, how could I say no to such fun work?

Ghost Of Scarzix

I made this tune for the Tape Loader Compo, reaching the 24th place (out of 32).

The process of composing it has been very troubled: the one you're listening to is my third attempt at making a decent tune. The first one had a strange but very catchy melody as an intro, and then a nice rhythmic section with an odd drum sound and a slightly out of tune (because of the too wide vibrato, I guess) bass. I couldn't go on because the tune sounded too naive to me, so I made a second attempt, which was more "conceptual" (I won't write more about the "concept" here because I may use it for another tune). The intro melody featured an unusual chord progression which made the song go a halftone down everytime it looped... It was too complex to handle, so I quit it...

While thinking about what I would like to listen to while waiting for a game to load, a very powerful bass sound, that I had heard in some not-very-well-known videogames, came to my mind, and I decided to make something similar. That bass deserved an epic melody... and that's how the intro came to life...

Some days before making the tune I was listening for the n-th time, but very carefully, to "Queen II", by Queen, and I paid a lot of attention to an "istrument" that plays between the end of "Procession" and the beginning of "Father To Son". It's a synth-like sound, probably made with a guitar, that plays a note and then the same note an octave higher in rapid succession, but not so quickly as some "octave" instruments that can be heard in many SID tunes. That sound really enhances the transition from the epic "Procession" to the heavier "Father To Son", and I wanted something like that in my tune too... So I tried to recreate that instrument, and I named it... "Father To Son"!

The intro melody was descending... Then I thought that the middle part should have been ascending... And what seemed to be a scary task (writing a good main part after an intro that seems to lead the song to an end) became quite easy. The 3 minutes time limit helped me, because I had to keep things simple and short. (By the way, the tune lasts exactly 3 minutes before it loops!)

The most difficult part was choosing a title. The one I had in mind as soon as I finished the tune was very different from the final one. It was short, but didn't mean much. "Mist-shrouded Heart" represents perfectly the "landscape" I had in my mind while composing the tune, and I think it helps get in the mood much better!

Last but not least: I think this is my first release as "Ald" of "Atlantis". I'm very proud of being part of this wonderful group, and I hope I'll be able to do many more tunes with them!

The now famous third anthem we made Kenët and me for our good old friend "Unreal".

I composed the main melody and arpeggio chords progression and Kenët did all the rest, especially the wonderfull leads :)

You probably heard this tune before in (lots off) keygen/warez menu, in hundred different versions on YouTube, but THIS ONE is the original, released in september 2001 in the Rebel's chipmusicdisk #1 (http://pouet.net/prod.php?which=3604).

dEViLOCk is a composer located near Bremen, Germany, who is well known from the C64 and PC demo scenes. The varied style of his music is influenced not only by progressive rock bands, punk and metal but also classical music, jazz and synth pop of the 80's.

He began composing music on computers in 1989 on the Commodore 64 and joined the cracking- and demo groups Cyberpunx, Talent, 711, Tristar & Red Sector Incorporated and X-Rated and made some demo and intro music, game music, sound fx and won some competitions along the way too. The C64 was the root of all his computer music and he still uses it to produce original C64 chip tunes or to use the sounds of the C64 SID chip in professional music productions. He is currently a member of the C64 demo groups Arsenic, Performers and Oxyron.

In 1993 dEViLOCk got his first IBM PC and started to compose music with so called trackers like Fasttracker. In the late 90's and the beginning of the new millennium his music was used in many professional productions like cinematic trailers, radio commercials, web pages and presentations for agencies. dEViLOCk plays E-bass, electric- and acoustic guitar and drums on acoustic sets and also his e-drumset. Since he was 15 he played these instruments on stage in several bands like Beefcurtain (grungepunk-metal) and Mampfdampfer (crossover).

Nowadays he uses a PC, a MAC and several external hardware and real instruments to compose music. He uses state of the art soft- and hardware to produce music or sound effects for games, presentations, movies, commercials and demos.
