‘Get Back’ sets the mood off sonically, with some almost dubstep groove thrown in along with Crypticz’s footwork influences. ‘We A Dem’ is the closest this EP gets to the dancefloor with it’s bass driven pulse groove and cheeky acapella chops. The third track is a collaboration, ‘Shift’ with Lakeway (who’s got some music lined up later on this year with the label) ­ shows off a seriously stripped back skeleton with moody bass, vocals and atmospherics. The EP is closed down with a lazy melodic and bassy number called ‘Promise’ (totally late night vibes on this one!).

“An Eastern flute spirals into a dark realm full of addictive elements. These elements combine to create the infamous garage track structure. This variation in production pushes the outer limits of the original's percussion, which do their best to induce a trance-like state in the listener. The deep, throbbing low end pours through the mono-channel of Self Evident & Blind Prophet’s production, reminding us of the old and surreal El-B productions. A wild vocal moves to keep the listener in a chokehold, draining life force while gaining momentum over time. The elements intensify, while the flute adds mysticism to this incredible nightmare machine. The duo know how to travel back in time, delivering a master cut that carefully joins light and day…”

Translation Recordings journeys into the dungeon once again with the sinister, subterranean sounds of Bassment Beats Vol. 2. Up first, Red Army’s “Yergacheffe” kicks off with rising dub-wise stylistics and a surging bassline that ripples sonic energy across the soundscape. On “The Hippies”, Brat Leeks serves up a twisted cocktail of mechanized beats and FX mixed with psychedelic synths and wavy sub frequencies. Dyl and Paragon continue the journey to depths unknown with “Abraxas”, where eerie strings and cavernous drums build into a menacing doomsday stomper of a track that crushes everything in its path with bassweight. Cid Poitier delivers the final blow with “Ramping”, whose deceptively stripped-back intro sets up a leviathan drop guaranteed to test the limits of any sound system. Bassment Beats Vol. 2 faithfully carries the torch for the series, showcasing producers from across the globe that are on the leading edge of the darker, more experimental, side of the drum & bass spectrum.

Trendkill HQ are extremely excited to have the super talented Current Value gracing their label with a brand new single, which also features a collaboration with label owner Prolix. 

 Prolix says of the release: 'I have been a fan of Tim (Current Value) for many years, and especially his most recent output. Most people will know him for his 'hard as nails' sound, but recently he has been writing more straight up 'Neuro' for labels such as Blackout and Critical. I was really happy to get my hands on 'Get Down To It' for the label, and it has caused major damage every time I have played it in the clubs, so I'm looking forward to getting it out to the fans and other DJs. On the flip I got the chance to work with him in the studio and I think we made something pretty hard hitting!

Returning to Dispatch LTD after a string of successful and hard hitting releases, DBR UK are back to present their debut album, entitled ‘Rough Edges’, comprised of sixteen original productions from the UK trio.

‘Rough Edges’ is an ethos by which DBR UK live by in the studio; a distinctive style which has developed over the years and throughout their own influences. Made up of varying elements, styles and attitudes within drum & bass, the album covers the trio’s full spectrum, carried out with their own unique flair.

Certified masters of crafting their basslines and low ends to perfection, the pulse keeps every track pumping with soul, carefully mapped out and delivered to a tee, whatever the chosen direction.

Eloquently arranged, but purposely gritty, dynamic but not over-complicated and never straightforward, glossy or predictable, it’s an ideology the group stand by, whether it’s a melodic vocal swathe or a murderous minimal mod.

Equipped with murky steppers for the shadowy back rooms such as ‘Demolition’ (ft. Slippy Skills), the album journeys through old skool & dub focused influences, like reece thronged ‘Dark Alley’ and hypnotic stroller ‘Man Hunt’.

Alongside their solo productions, the album also sees guest collaborators from the past and present combining efforts, with Skeptical, Structured, Gremlinz & Ahmad helping craft the gullied landscapes.

The poignant and piercing vocals of MC Fokus strike at the jugular in ‘Blood Water, whilst the smooth, dulcet tones of Amanda Seal perfectly contrast to the darkness and hysteria, before leading the listener back up the garden path.

Back on the scene with a vengeance, having blown us away with an astounding quality and output, DBR UK deliver their first long player, ‘Rough Edges’, utilizing their subtly edged weaponry to maximum effect.

"OCEAN is a very interesting aspect of my life. It is part of my DNA. It conveys all things I can't put into words.
Life, loss, love, spirit. As I evolve so too does 'Ocean'. The song was first recorded as part of my first album/cassette,
"Searching For Heritage", which I sold when I busked, then for my first self-titled studio album 12 years ago -- "John Butler (1998)".
The song has been watched online incredibly over 25 million times in various formats, nearly always live, be it from MusicMax Sessions or from one of the many festivals I have had the pleasure to play. I'd like to thank you for your continued support over all these years; it means so much to me. I would like to thank you by offering this first studio recording of 'Ocean' in over a decade as a free download.
I recorded it in my favourite studio, The Compound here in Fremantle Western Australia, a studio you helped me build.
This marks just another fleeting moment in a career that is very much ongoing.
I look forward to bringing you many new songs and albums into the future and continuing this amazing journey with you ALL.
