Here is my version of Jochen Hippel's (aka Mad Max) fantastic introduction/menu music for The Seven Gates of Jambala.

The Seven Gates of Jambala was developed by Thalion Software and published by Grandslam Interactive in 1989. This was the first game developed by Thalion, and was a launch pad for the Atari ST demo group The Exceptions (Tex) and their venture into commercial games.

Originally created on the YM2149 sound chip for the Atari ST, this has to be one of my favorite introduction tunes. I've incorporated some of Jochen's original sounds into this tune as without them it just doesn't sound the same.

The Seven Gates of Jambala

Here is my version of Jason C. Brooke's great music from Vixen.

Vixen was developed by Intelligent Design and published by Martech in August 1988. To be honest, it was pretty bad, with the music being the best bit about it!

Musically it is very similar to Sympathy for the Devil by The Rolling Stones - perhaps it is just coincidence?

My cover of the Xenon (In Game) music originally written by David Whittaker and released by The Bitmap Brothers. This version incorporates some of the original sounds that David produced using the Yamaha YM2149 sound chip used in the Atari ST.

Xenon (In Game)

Welcome to the magical Enchanted Land! This is my remix version of the classic Jochen Hippel (aka Mad Max) intro music for the groundbreaking Atari ST game, Enchanted Land. It is created using lots of lovely 80s instruments and also features Jochen himself (see if you can spot him).

Enchanted Land broke all the rules of the Atari ST to give the best platformer experience ever created. It was written by Nic Thisell of the demo crew The Carebears (TCB) and published by Thalion in 1990.

Thalion Introduction

In the years after the loss of the Space Police, space became home to roving bands of pirates who lay in wait for the unwary pilot. Survival relied on a fast ship and powerful weapons. The pilots who survived became known as “Free Traders.”

Soon, the best of the pilots began to hire themselves out as escorts to ships owned by rich merchants looking to make vast amounts of money from this anarchy.

To counteract this threat, the pirates grouped together and attacked in force.
Many pilots died trying to fight off large pirate forces. So, they grouped together, and in one huge battle, killed most of the pirates. So, that today, piracy is only a small problem. The group of pilots were known as.. “The Federation of Free Traders.”

Here is my version of Federation of Free Traders (FOFT) composed by the late great Ben Daglish.

Federation of Free Traders is a space trading video game released in 1989 for the Atari ST and Amiga. It was similar in scope to Elite, involving space simulation and exploration tilted towards trading. The player is tasked with exploring and discovering the billions of procedurally generated galaxies and planets. The game was developed and published by Gremlin Interactive.
