We are very pleased to welcome a new artist to the Dirt Crew Recordings roster!

London based “Clive From Accounts” caught our attention with his last release on Fouk’s “Outplay” imprint in 2020 and we are excited to present you with his new EP “Cooking the Books”.

The opener “Toucan” is a lush deep house joint, mixing frantic percussion with drunken synths, and as Clive describes it himself “A bit like taking Night Nurse and going on safari”. We love the spacey atmosphere of this track so much! For “Gravitate”, Clive made a dreamy yet danceable tune using dusty old records repurposed with a sprinkling of modular percussion and trouser-flapping subs. This one really caught our attention and has a very unique style, reminiscent of early “Groove Armada” and “Röyksopp”.

The shimmering “Altar” is organic and emotional, using purely analog synthesis and “Stewart-Lee-grade repetition”, which gives this EP a deep diversity in terms of styles and sounds. Exactly what we want Dirt Crew Recordings to be in this day and age.

We top things off with a deep and subby 2-Step / House remix by our own, Toronto’s best “Dan Only”. He transformed “Toucan” into a grimey dancefloor beast, leading up towards a great breakdown where the spacey strings and pads from the original shine in an old school 90s light. Sonic delights all the way! Enjoy!

Celebrating a determined and ambitious 15 year tenure as Yorkshire’s chief bastion of deep house music, Hudd Traxx enlist a who’s who from their gilded halls to contribute tunes for a special anniversary release. Split across two vinyl parts and an expansive digital release, it’s a pretty prestigious occasion featuring dance music legends Nightmares On Wax & Jovonn, long term label stalwarts Iron Curtis & JT Donaldson, a guest appearance from Mark Hawkins (FKA Marquis Hawkes) and a track from label head Eddie Leader. Adding to the already weighty credentials are Agnès (releasing his first material since 2013), Berlin-via-Italy producer Black Loops and, representing a new generation of signings for the label, Columbian producers DFRA and No Different.

DFRA unloads some catchy sample usage, concentric bass and bubbly dynamics on his funky house number - “Candelaria”; while No Different opens up his account with a taut, rattly and acidic number, pairing up discordant synth squiggles with a riotous vox and hefty kick.

10 tracks which perfectly instil why Hudd started this label of love 15 years ago; to showcase fierce, uncompromising dancefloor workouts in as sincere and stylish manner as possible. The artists and tracks chosen show the adventurous routes and development the label keep as their main point of focus – to unearth the tantalizing new and exciting sounds of house music’s continuous evolution.

After a brief hiatus due the pandemic, Russian label Minor Notes Recordings returns for their 7th release. During the first 6 releases they have gained a reputation as one of Russia's finest exports of house music to the world, introducing many us to the likes of Scruscru, Baltimore Chop and Lowres. However, after nurturing his own artists it's the turn of Guydee himself to shine and make a much-deserved debut on his own imprint. Over the last year Guy has taken some time out of releasing to rebuild his own sound and sharpen his production skills, now fresh out the studio he and has a full stack of new music to share with the world. First up is 'В стол EP', where Guydee presents 3 super deep compositions which include collages of organic sounds and original instruments by the man himself. Malta's deep house don Melchior Sultana is also drafted in on remix duty and provides a sub-aquatic flip of the lead track 'Svet'. As ever Minor Notes comes correct with releases on both Vinyl and Digital formats!

Marcel Vogel has cultivated a reputation for smooth, consistent and infectious Detroit-influenced dance music with attitude. The Amsterdam-based polymath blends live instrumentation and samples into groove-heavy beats, releasing across many popular labels while also running two of his own and touring across continents. 

Having teamed up last year with Dutch producer and key-player Tim Jules for the raw single ‘Take Me Back’, the two return with a fresh pressing on Shall Not Fade showing off their authentic soulful sound. Each track features a different vocalist, each bringing their own skill to the fore; in the title track, Alessandre’s honey-sweet and porcelain-smooth vocal caress the playful keys for an instant earworm. ‘This is When I Leave’ strips the sound right down until only the drum, like a heartbeat, and Khadija’s wistful vocals remain, making for an intimate experience. The B-side focuses on high-intensity instrumentals put together by Vogel and Jules: a breathless funk and rhythm workout begins in ‘Why Don’t You Leave Me’ with Hector Wijnbergen’s infectious, powerful words taking centre stage. This headsy beat continues in ‘Like a Fish In The Water’, LYMA’s crooning subtly making an entrance and complemented by delicate guitar lines, building to a crescendo.
