MIKE L is one of the main protagonists of the deep and soulful House sound in France, both as a DJ and as a producer. He was one of the resident DJs on FG , Paris' n°1 dance music radio station, Mike played in the best clubs and parties around town: Respect & Secret parties @ Queen, Rex Club («Legends» with DJ Deep, «Watch Out» with Jef K), Kwality parties @ Batofar , le Pulp (« No Dancin'Please » with Chloé), « Dancin' Class' Hero » @ Globo (with Swag live), and the Nouveau Casino . He also djed in such prestigious festivals as Midem or Boréalis , and abroad, from the Trixx parties @ Mad in Lausanne through to the Madbar in Chicago. Under his Republic 61 guise – with Cyril K – or with such producers as Lanoiraude, Mike showed his class on such noted maxis as « The Dawn ep » (Straight Up Rec.) or Battle 001, and the remix of Ciudad Feliz' Airport . Collaborating once again with Lanoiraude on Battle 006, they prove once more than deep doesn't mean dull. Here Lanoiraude and Mike treat us to a beautiful slice of Deep House, sophisticated and atmospheric yet soulful and driving, perfect for long nights. Describing Mike L’s journey through the French electronica scene is no easy thing to do, as the man is not the kind of gambler who lays all his cards on the table at the first round. Coming from Morocco to France in 1984, Mike L. learnt his trade from the radio-mixes of Dimitri from Paris, then a young radio-host on NRJ. Drawn to soul music and funk, this self-made DJ made his debut by diving into the pool of residencies in bars–from the Comptoir to the Wait & See Café– as early as 1989, improving his technique and widening his musical scope (from acid-jazz to deep house, through to hip hop and more soulful house music). Quite logically he started getting more and more important residencies (Folies Pigalle, the Kit Kat after-parties at the Privilège, the Queen, Midem...), working along with the greatest international DJS. Working as a salesman at the record shop Vibe Station, he naturally made friends with Olivier Portal’s bunch, such as DJ Deep or Jef K. True enough, Mike L. is not really a media pet in France, but that’s because he prefers working with friends to the blinding spotlights, and likes more the slow making of collective projects than the instantaneous but tasteless ready-to-dance recipies. We’ll certainly not complain about such a choice. For though his countless residencies seem to draw the portrait of one of the hardest working DJs in France, Mike L. is first and foremost a demanding perfectionist whose music reveals a timeless quality. But Mike has got more than one string to his bow, as in the field of production his fame is growing through fruitful collaborations with Cyril K. or Playin’4 The City. A famed remixer, Mike also hosts a weekly show (Atmosfear) on radio FG, resident at the Wagg.

It’s called The Ghost, and seven years on, what was once this covert mobile record shop has become its own little universe.

We are an online community radio streaming 24/7 from a wooden shack in the heart of Brussels’ historic “Parc Royal”.

A meeting point for music freaks from Brussels and beyond. A tiny kiosk bar serving eclectic music and drinks. Sometimes, in sunny summer days, a safe space to dance under the trees.
