We live in an age where psychology has killed romance. 
We try to “work through our issues,” protect our personal boundaries, and spot “red flags” or warning signs in the very first messages - signals from our consciously-unconscious minds.
We’re afraid of making the wrong choice. 
We see it as a weakness of an immature mind. 
We believe we’re above all that. 
We’re “self-aware.”
 We dig up the past, searching for answers and the right takeaways. 
We blame our parents, our teachers, the wrong friends. 
We reflect, we analyze, and feel it’s our duty to label everything with the perfect term or diagnosis. 
We burn bridges as soon as we detect even a hint of instability. 
If a person, job, friend, city, or relationship doesn’t quite meet our expectations, we move on - because somewhere out there, there must be something better, and beyond that, something even better.We endlessly develop strategies, plans, checklists, task lists, partner requirements, opportunities for growth, productivity charts. 
We’re so focused on ourselves that we forget, beyond the walls we’ve built, there are people, places, and moments that simply exist - and aren’t meant to be picked apart or overanalyzed.
You might think I’m criticizing psychology itself. But no - I heard a phrase from a psychologist’s chair, deceptively simple, that brought me to tears the way a widow cries at a funeral: “You’re only human.” 
Beneath our hero’s cape - this persona of being superhuman, elevated and detached from all things worldly - there’s endless fear. 
The fear of being just a human who makes mistakes, gets angry, wants things, hates things, who cries, or laughs too loudly at the wrong time. 
Who acts on impulse, gives in to emotions, or follows the heart instead of what’s “right” - goes wherever and to whomever the heart leads.
Yes, it’s great that we’ve learned to understand, protect, and take care of ourselves. 
But real experience starts where we know we’ll make mistakes and willingly walk into them, because we’re meant to. 
Real life begins where the plan runs out, and real love starts where logic ends. That’s what makes us human. 
Only human.
