Wednesday morning was something else. DJ Tennis curated a full day of back-to-back sets on the Robot Heart bus, calling it Tennis Doubles. The highlight was the sunrise set with Simon, aka Bonobo. It was Simon’s first Burn and the rest is history. 🎾🌞❤️

In DJ Tennis’ words, “Robot Heart is family. When they asked me to curate the Wednesday lineup, I knew I had to bring Simon for his first Burn. That sunrise was pure magic playing side by side with an artist I deeply admire, as the desert came alive, felt like it was always meant to be. After more than a decade here, the Burn still takes my breath away like no other place.”

Elemental Vol. 1 moves through earth, air, fire, and water not as metaphors but as emotional states. The songs drift like weather systems, mixing tenderness with atmosphere - acoustic guitars and field-warm vocals meeting the pulse of understated techno rhythms. The production is deliberately porous: wood and wire breathing alongside soft synths and spectral drum-machine traces. It's an "acoustic techno" album in the sense that rhythm and resonance share the same dirt. The songs carry the physical textures of wind in rafters, gravel underfoot, or rain on a roof, yet they shimmer with digital light. This meeting of folk intimacy and electronic timbres gives the album its peculiar gravity - part back-porch confession, part after-hours heartbeat.

Lyrically, Elemental Vol. 1 abandons conventional pop architecture. Instead of verse–chorus–bridge repetition, each piece unfolds as a field poem - free-form, continuous, and responsive to its own inner weather. The writing treats structure as tide rather than grid: refrains return when they need to, not when they're told to. This openness lets the language breathe in sync with the natural imagery that drives it - storms, light, stone, silence - and invites listeners to inhabit the songs as evolving spaces rather than predictable forms. Across the various mixes of its six song poems - We Learn the Sky, Don't Sightsee This Heart, Be a Storm in Me, Til the Heat Is Gone, You Happen Like Weather, and Wild Gifts - the album traces the cycles of intimacy and impermanence, finding in their motion the same quiet power that turns seasons, wheels, and hearts.

Thugfucker Live from Robot Heart - Burning Man 2012

I feel like every year I say my closing set at DISTRIKT is the highlight of my year of touring (because well, it always is) and this year was no different! Always the best energy, the biggest smiles, the happiest dance floor on earth...only this year, I got to play that set twice! Since there was an issue with the original recording, I had the opportunity to play that set in its entirety (plus an extra two hours at the end) by recording it live on my Garage Party Sessions show on Saturday March 28, 2020. I hope those of you who tuned in the past weekend were able to get way from our current global situation for a few hours and get back to happier days on the playa, I know I sure did, so thank you for being there with me again.

The first 3 hours of this set are the same songs in the same order as my set at Burning Man 2019. I decided to leave the last 2 hours on there as a little bonus, just to help you get through these long days stuck at home. I also recorded a 45 minute downtempo intro, which will be featured on my personal Soundcloud page.
