The dynamic duo of Dedy Dread & Mr Bird are two handsome producers & DJ's based in Lisbon, who met through the shared acquaintance of UK producer Smoove, soon after Mr Bird spread his wings and moved to Lisbon from his hometown of Newcastle in the UK. Dedy had already released tunes on Smoove's label Wack Records, and Steve knew Smoove from the cold Northern wastes of the UK, so it was just a matter of time before these two beat wizards got together.

They started producing together not long after that, and the Bird Dread Sound was formed! With their first 7" vinyl release on Lisboa Records in 2010 (executive produced by legend J-Star), they set the tone of their vibes to come…quirky soul, funk & reggae mixed with soul and rap acapellas, with an eye for the discerning dancefloor

With releases on Resense Records, Lisboa Records and Booty Fruit and now having joined the Riddim Fruit crew, things are looking up for these two beat connoisseurs.

Dedy Dread is a Portuguese architect, surfer, producer & DJ with releases on Lisboa Records, Wack Records, Cast-A-Blast and Booty Fruit, who can be heard spinning fine grooves all over Lisbon town, equally at home on his board or making beats, and he also runs the Lisboa record label & the Tighten Up night with Mr Mute & Mr Bird.

Mr Bird is an Englishman spreading his wings, DJing and producing more beats & remixes than the average sparrow, also co-runs the Heavy Duty Booty and Master Press Recordings labels somewhere between Portugal and the UK. Steve has several releases lined up in the next few months for different labels (including Booty Fruit, Resense records, Budabeats, Mustbeat, Freesoul 45, Spring Strut, Heavy Duty Booty & Master Press Records) and is currently working on new soulful sounds with UK singer Greg Blackman.

Rackabeat & Bar-low: Big in the Game...

Very much like Siamese twins (but without the complicated toilet procedures) Rackabeat & Bar-low are joined at the hip. This super-producer/remixer/DJ duo are tighter than two coats of paint, on and off the decks. Anyone witnessing their storming sets up and down the UK at this summer's festival season will testify to that.

Bouncing around like men possessed of the Holy Ghost, Raks and Lo turned up the heat in the muddiest tents from Shambala to Glastonbury as residents of the much loved Chai Wallahs arenas. Playing a patented blast of hip-hop, funk, soul, beats, breaks, DnB, reggae, bootlegs and dubstep (occasionally at the same time, rocking a live drum machine and hand-built dub siren box, to boot) they never failed to raise the temperature.

These Bristol natives hold fort in their home city, too, running nights and remixing leading lights. Collabos with hotly-tipped musicians, and their own dope productions, are pricking the ears of the great and good of the underground music scene. And releases on the download giants, Riddim Fruit, are sure to win over mad new fans with a taste for dancefloor beats.

Producer, Composer, Bandleader and DJ, Blend Mishkin is a versatile artist, who has mixed and move across reggae, dub, soul, funk as well as world music and in 2023 completed 30 years of discography. His works have been released on seminal record labels, such as Manos Hadjidaki's Sirius, London's Nice Up! Recods, LTJ Bukem’s Cooking Records (UK) and New York based Shadow Records.

In a genre which is all too often full of urban clichés, The Breaks Collective bring a refreshing take on Hip Hop to the table, taking inspiration from many styles of music including jazz, rap, hip-hop, funk, soul, rock and R&B to name a few; despite this wide range of influences the seven members knit melodies, beats and lyrics together to create unique musical and poetical flavor. The Breaks' musical ability enable them to keep the audience entertained with spontaneous sets and freestyles.

And here's a little bit of history....

The Breaks Collective was a project born in 2005 when a local group of musicians collaborated in a series of 'jam' style gigs.

This group quickly formed into a band and produced 'Short Guy, Long Trousers' EP was recorded, followed by 'Broken' EP an then 'Finally' LP.

In 2012 they released 4 singles in aid of 2 national charities that gained them local media attention including 247 Magazine, 'BBC Radio Devon Feature' and a 'BBC Spotlight' feature (check out their YouTube page).

In their time they have played live supporting 'De La Soul' 'The Nextmen' ‘Toots and the Maytals’, Jazz legend ‘Courtney Pine’, ‘Gilles Peterson’, ‘The Pharcyde’ and ‘The Scratch Perverts’ to name a few. Headlined stages at ‘Gold Coast Ocean Fest‘ 'Aeon' festival, ‘Fat Face World Freestyle Mountainboard Champs' and played numerous other festivals including 'Electric Beach' near Newquay. 

Future biog will include the release of the latest LP 'Audio Art' in early 2013, preceded by 3 singles in the run up to the LP release.


Dark Knights events started in spring 2009 at the Exeter Phoenix art centre. Run by DJ Dizzit (Tazzid Ingram) as a fun loving night playing house and techno with a minimal edge, it’s a summer only event that runs from from March to October in the bar and the now infamous outdoor terrace.

The inspiration for the night was to provide a cheap and fun night for every one to enjoy, and to this date this remains. We only make what is needed to cover the costs so that everyone can come and enjoy the night. This is why we aim to keep the prices as low as possible.

In 2011 we started DKDA or Dark Knights Digital Audio, a new and exciting record label/DJ Agency, aiming to unearth some fresh new talent. With a high standard and a low price, seeing to it that every one gets a good fair deal.

Hot Buttered Soul spin 60s 70s & 80s connoisseur Disco, Boogie, Soul & Rhythm &Blues. With an eye for the dance floor they hand-pick the best sounds from across the spectrum of black music both old and new. Spinning only original vintage vinyl for that 'authentic' sound and feel.
