This Recording of DJ Desy Balmer (Nice & Nasty) was made live at Asylum Halloween Weekender, Sunday 30th October 2011 at The Vaults, Dublin (VIP Room. 11-15pm to 12-10am). It features music from other artists and labels (not Nice & Nasty per se). It is free to download and for you to share so please do. 

The mix was done on Ableton Live at 130bpm with Live FX and some drunkenness. Thanks to Dilly for having me play. Thanks for Gingham and Enda for doing some Warping (I had enough tune sin the end to pay all three rooms alI night. It was so hard to choose which classic trax not to play. I think knowing that Oliver Bondzio was on after me forced me to go a bit more techno and acid that i had anticipated).

I was only ever in the Asylum on two occasions circa 1994 buts its' reputation preceded it and its status long lasting in the memory of Irish dance music culture.

For one night hanging out with, listening to and having a drink or two with the likes of Liam Dollard, Casper, Dean Sherry, Pat Hyland, DIlly, Scott Graham and Oliver from Hardfloor was a pleasure. Lets do it again. Seriously, Dilly oh wise one, send that text again.

It was fantastic to have a reason to mix tunes from the past. I didn't think I would enjoy these gigs per se. I never go to the Charlie Heggartys reunions for example but hey who knows maybe the Asylum, NI Old Skool and others will have to chat about that. Watch this Space. Anyway, enough bull shit, I hope you like this mix and the tunes. I hope the self-indulgent use of FX does not wreck your head but shakes the brain, wiggles the ass and makes you wanna boogie.

This is a Mix of Retro and House Tunes from 1990 to 1994 from 3 great clubs in Dublin that would later prove to set the standard on the Dublin Dance scene they are of course "The Olympic Ballroom" "the asylum" and "Sides D.C." later "Gravity.

The Mix starts off with a Big Sides anthem "Void - Orcana" and quickly progresses and moves through a few different styles and touches on iconic dance floor moments from each club. with tunes like "Sonexuno - Alchemy" from Asylum and "Westwon - Control" from Olympic days.
