Things have come full circle for Silent Dust member Andy Hobbs.

Having emerged in the early/mid 2000s as Hobzee, he’s now returned to that alias for the first time in 15 years, easing himself back into our playlists as a solo artist. So far well-received dispatches have landed on the respected likes of Influence, Soul Deep and Goldfat. Now he’s levelled up with a debut on Doc Scott’s seminal 31 imprint.

Perhaps his most accomplished and striking release so far during this new chapter, his remarkable In The Dark EP hits all the sweet spots between his Soul:r roots, his Silent Dust autonomicizms and a more contemporary deep, technoid sound.

Part 34 of my Intelligent Drum and Bass Mix series mixed by myself on Saturday 3rd June April 2023.

Lots of superb new releases coming out on the more Atmospheric side of Jungle and D&B in this mix with a few classics from yesteryear thrown in.

Kicking off with Illiads on Odysee Recordings channelling those Source Direct vibes with Forbidden Affections (and in fact I play all 3 tracks in this very strong EP).

Next the mix features 3 superb tracks from the recent Lunar Maya Vinyl release on Metius music from Mecca, Eschaton and Woken Balance.

Superb tracks from Parhelia's Archive 1 LP also feature which was an LP released on Bandcamp of his unreleased and archived material.     Reconstruction and Oceanus Procellarium are firm favourites of mine.

There is a modern jungle remix of the classic Warp 69's - Natural High released back in 1993 oozing with those deep vibes by Kid Chameleon.

Also some incredible tracks from Equinox, Nookie and Seba from the recent Aerosoul EP released to raise funds to help support Leke Aersoul's family (the man behind the Jungilist Movement Clothing label) as he has unfortunately taken ill recently.

Some classic Atmospheric beats from Mastermind (aka Genotype), Hoax and Big Bud also with Hoax's remix of Summer Fresh from Mastermind and Faceless from Big Bud (recently released on Vinyl Fanatiks) particular favourites.

Also sounding fresher than ever - Okee gives us Astral Voyager on a Time Tunnel Recordings EP vinyl release.

Forthcoming tracks from Steve Cable & Skyward also feature with those smooth vibes (forthcoming on Influenza Media).
