Still Nest

One of my favorite anniversary sets for Moontribe was for the 16-year anniversary, in 2009. It was the closing set, winding the gathering down after three solid days of amazing music and celebration, and it was the first time I ever got asked to play an encore...and then the entire dancefloor came together, me included, into a circle of holding hands, smiling faces, and love, so much love. A truly memorable moment that feeds my soul.

Unfortunately, I no longer have the lossless WAV version of this mix so I've posted the 320 mp3 I still have. If you can download it, I would recommend doing so, as streaming it from SoundCloud will result in it being transcoded twice.

This was designed for a yoga class that was taught in 2015 by Jessica Annand at the Stewart Mineral Springs Retreat Center near Mt. Shasta, California. It was featured in the @healing-temple series in 2016.

'Arihkar' means "to jump into the water' in the Karuk language, spoken in the Northern California region.

So, aside from my usual electrocoustic bass-centric musical ramblings, I've been working on another project for about the past 3 years with my brother, http://soundcloud.com/brynburnell.  We call this project "Dersu Uzala", named after a russian film made in the late 70's.   It's a mish mash of live recorded piano, bass, guitar, melodica, percussion and other various soundscapes and field recordings and vocals from my good friend Malky Taylor.
