We're still here and waiting patiently for that moment when we can dance together again in person. In the meantime, this month marks the 10 year anniversary of Ron Like Hell & Ryan Smith kicking off Wrecked. We didn't want to pass on the opportunity to celebrate all the good times had with each other over the years. Expect a playful and free-spirited blend of styles featuring several permutations of progressive house, dream trance, and dub techno, with just enough midtempo breakbeat and spaced-out ambient to provide a sublime introduction and soft landing. DJ Basilisk also delivers on the promise of harmonic mixing with smooth transitions, seamlessly layering rhythm and melody to obscure where one track ends and the next begins. Prepare to kick up some dust and bask in the warmth of the rising sun as the story unfolds!

This mix is dedicated to everyone around the world missing out on festival season throughout these pandemic years. Hopefully we'll all be together again soon! Global cultures collide and imagined geographies collapse as the story unfolds, catapulting the listener from the mirror-shaded nightclubs of the 1980s to the shifting sands of ancient Mesopotamia and back again, with countless side quests along the way. Despite the unabashed rawness of many of these selections, Basilisk's smooth and harmonic mixing style prevails, adeptly fusing every track into a seamless whole.

¿Buena O Mala Vida?

Basilisk embarks on another epic mission into the outer reaches of sound with ESOTERIC EXPANSE 4, 76 tracks and nearly five hours of cutting edge techno, psytrance, electro, downtempo, and ambient. The fourth chapter of the Expanse Cycle spans a vast spectrum of contemporary electronic music styles unified by an emphasis on sleek and futuristic atmospheres, slow-burning builds, and taciturn tendencies. Despite the minimalistic focus there are also period of intense heat as the pressure rises, particularly when reaching the pumping psychedelic core of the mix. Overall the vibe is as ornate and majestic as the ringed world referenced in the title, and there's ample time to visit many of its disparate and ethereal moons.

Four hours and 70 meticulously curated selections await, opening with a hypnotic blend of ambient, downtempo, IDM, electro, and breaks before widening horizons with cosmic disco, acid house, progressive trance, and dub techno, always with a psychedelic touch. Floating Machine and CrennWiick have come together to create what can only be described as an incredibly impressive live set as their first joint venture. As a team they have proven to complement one another extraordinarily well, their different musical backgrounds come together in perfect harmony.
Floating Machine utilizes musical influences which include techno and progressive grooves while exploring the landscape of experimental and ambient sounds.
CrennWiick has many years of professional experience as a DJ and producer; his notorious and unique sound involves using top digital techniques. He acts as a virtual analogic performer while not forgetting the golden age of the 90’s electronica music.
Their first live set as a team is immediately captivating and energizes the senses. The set then continues to lift the spirits gradually upwards resulting in the listener eagerly anticipating the climax.
Suffice to say the Code Therapy experience is one well worth repeating and leaves me, personally, highly anticipating their next fusion of refined musical abilities.

You may have seen it yourself, A clear black night sky full of stars with the full moon casting greeny pinkish blue pearloid reflections upon the glassy waves as they arch over to break onto the beach at night. This track was inspired by just such an experience, New Year's Eve night/ New Year's dawn 1996/97 Wangamata, New Zealand (high summer). So beautiful it hurt.

4 Moonshine - Cosmosis

Aerodrömme (also spelled Aerodroemme, when an umlaut is not available) is a vibrant duo project based in Toronto, Canada. The act was created in 2008 by Boris "Shankar" Kurtzman and Steve "Nexus" Chan. @Aerodromme began as one of the most promising names in the Progressive Techno circuit. Over time, Boris and Steve have transformed their sound from a deeper progressive influence, to the more hypnotic/deep techno sound heard in their latest releases. They have an impressive discography, brandishing releases on labels such as JOOF Aura, Digital Structures, Slideways, Rheostatus, Frakture Audio, Baroque Records, Tribal Vision, Balkan Connection, Nuuktal, Oddsine, Techgnosis, TMM Records and Twisted Frequency. Over the years, they have received support from heavyweights such as Yuli Fershtat (aka Perfect Stranger), Black Asteroid, Chris Liebing, James Harcourt, Vegim, Luis Flores, Timo Maas, Danny Howells, and Tomcraft, just to name a few. Fabrice David a.k.a Ken Zo - Born in Mauritius

Fabrice created @ken-zo-official while studying in Melbourne Australia. After 3.5 years, of playing in Australia, he returned to Mauritius in 2014. Now based in Mauritius, Ken Zo is on the forefront of the Mauritian electronic scene. As a DJ he is known to be verstatile, catering for a wide spectrum of genres from deep house to full on psychedelic trance. He retains this versatility with his compositions and fuses the sub genres of techno & psychedelic to forge his own take of 'PsyTech'. In 2017, he was awarded the Backstage Award for Best DJ. 
Fabrice grew up surrounded by music. His mother was his first music teacher going over the basics of piano and singing. His parents enrolled him for violin classes at the age of 7 at the Conservatoire de Musique Francois Mitterrand where he also learnt music theory in french. At the age of 13 he moved on to the Conservatoire de Musique Frederic Chopin where he was trained in piano and music theory in English. Simultaneously during his teen years, Fabrice experimented with many genres - pop, rock, rnb - and played in many amateur bands and orchestras playing guitar, violin and keys.
He started DJing and producing in 2007 under the alias Mr.Snob playing commercial and progressive house as well as an occasional techno set here and there. The beginning was mostly birthday parties and school fairs with very rare club gigs. His career started picking up around 2011 just when he flew off to Melbourne Australia for his studies. He performed throughout Australia under his knew alias Ken Zo, finding his place within the niche psychedelic community playing fusion sets of techno and psy.
After 3,5 years in Australia playing all over, he returned to Mauritius in late 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Industry from RMIT, Melbourne. Now, Ken Zo is one of the leading DJs in Mauritius and pioneer of local underground culture.

DJ Basilisk emerges from a long period of esoteric theorizing, conceptual regeneration, and diligent crate-digging to present Hermetic Expanse, a five-hour odyssey into hypnotic realms of underground electronic music. Originally conceived as a vehicle for showcasing the sound of Techgnosis Records (@techgnosis-records), the label he co-founded alongside Ben Rama (@benramamusic) in 2015, this mix features ten of his personal favorites from the label's burgeoning catalog. Situating the Techgnosis vibe in a wider context, this mix also features numerous selections from Digital Diamonds, Digital Structures, Horns and Hoofs Entertainment, Anarkick Records, IbogaTech, Boshke Beats, Zenon Records, and other fellow travellers of the psychedelic techno and minimal psytrance movements. The central core of the mix, a three-hour dance floor workout, was released as Techgnosis Sessions 024, but this full-length and uncut version features an additional two hours of melancholic electro, intricate and effusive IDM, experimental breakbeat techno, and dark ambient.

Esoteric Expanse 1 [Psychedelic Techno / Progressive House / Electro / IDM / Ambient]

Basilisk is a veteran multi-genre DJ, co-founder of the psychedelic techno label @Techgnosis-Records alongside @benramamusic, founder of the iconic @Ektoplazm free music portal and label group (including Ektoplazm, Drumlore, and Omnitropic), lossless audio enthusiast, and dedicated archivist and electronic music curator. Originally hailing from Toronto, Canada, he is now based in Taipei, Taiwan.

Psytrance, techno, electro, house, trance, acid, breaks, bass, IDM, ambient—you name it, I probably spin it. My mixes fluidly combine different genres into harmonic journeys that defy convention. I encourage you to browse around and get lost in some of the many sonic microcosms I have meticulously curated over the years. Nearly all mixes posted here are available for download on my homepage.
