I've been spinning progressive house since the early 2000's, and over the years I have recorded some demo sets along the way. I thought I would compile them all in one place to make them easy(er) to find for people that like this type of more mellow, chillax, emotion-invoking music. More recently I started the "Prog Sessions" series, and I'll continue to add those here as they come out. Hope you enjoy!!

Gotek's Progressive House Demo Sets - Melodic and Emotive Sounds.. ^_^

Brand new!! Just uploaded this set that I recorded on the 4th of July, and it’s a combination of emotive, euphoric, summery-vibe tracks that I just loved. This mix was inspired by the joyous feelings we’re experiencing of finally coming out of COVID lock-down, being able to see friends and family and even people’s smiles again (w/o masks), and it just so happened that I went to see my very first DJ show on June 30th, which was also the day that the State of Washington removed most COVID-19 restrictions. To coincide with that ceremonious occasion, we had Anjunadeep rising star, Tom Marshall, a.k.a. MARSH, for the FIRST “Sunset Sessions On the Hiyu” DJ boat cruise since the pandemic began, and also my first show, of any sort whatsoever, since then as well. I am cautiously optimistic that life is returning back to normal, but I can’t imagine a more perfect event to have kicked it off than seeing Marsh play live out on the water in the lovely Puget Sound. I took that draw-bridge picture for the cover art for this mix from that very boat cruise as well! Anyway, I had been working on this demo set for a while and got to play it live at my DJ buddy Eric Weber’s annual DJ BBQ down in Tacoma, which was a blast, and also submitted a version of it for a guest DJ mix for DJ friend in Portland's “PFB Radio” podcast, but I really liked how this set turned out, and I hope you like it too. I know COVID is still here and not everyone is out of the woods yet, so no matter where you're located, just stay positive my friends, make sure to get vaccinated if you haven’t already (if you’re able to), and we’ll all get through this together. Progressive House demo mix "Electric Blue Seattle", recorded live July 4th, 2021

Hey guys, hope you’re all doing well!! So, crazy to think it’s October already, and sorry it’s been a while since I have posted anything new. Sadly, since the COVID pandemic took the world by storm, two of the clubs that I used to play at regularly, The Underground in Seattle, and Whiskey Bar in Portland, OR, both shut down due to the lack of business and financial hardships brought on by the pandemic. Fortunately for me I still have an amazing club in Seattle to play at, ORA Nightclub, but moving forward I will probably have less shows to record unless something changes. Just a fact of life I guess. So, on the brighter side, I recently took my first vacation since the pandemic and went to visit some friends in Germany, which was awesome. I had been experimenting with some newer proggy tracks that I had been hoping to play at a progressive house show, but decided to record a demo set and I listened to it nonstop while I was in Germany. When I got home I made a few minor tweaks and re-recorded it last Saturday (Oct 15th), and I really loved the way the tracks just set this certain relaxing, yet peppy, introspective vibe, and (for me at least) I really love to listen to it while driving. So, I called this mix “Autumn Drive”, as fall is one of my very favorite times of year, when all the leaves turn beautiful colors and begin to fall, and we get some amazingly colorful sunsets here in the Pacific NW. “AUTUMN DRIVE” – a Progressive House demo mix, recorded live, Sat, Oct 15th, 2022

So, this mix was intended to be an experiment, just to play with some deep progressive and organic house tracks that I have compiling for my next (hopefully) progressive house opening set, which is at this time a primary support spot for GENIX on Feb 11th, which I am very excited about!! Most of these tracks ended up being a bit too mellow for my Genix set, but I did manage to hit “record” on my digital recorder before I played it, just so I could listen to this later while working or driving, etc, my favorite times to listen to more introspective, thought and emotion-provoking music. After I listened to it a few times I realized that this set actually turned out kinda special, the tracks really went well together, so thought I would post it as a demo set anyway, just in case anyone else might enjoy it as well. One thing to call out is the opening track “Last of Us” by Vintage & Morelli, I actually bought a few years ago and believe it or not this is actually a 100 BPM track, which is insanely slow for a DJ set, e.g. usually the very lowest I will go would be in the neighborhood of 118 BPM or so, but I could hear that this track has these amazing qualities that probably would be better consumed at faster BPM’s and I always wanted to experiment with it, like I finally did on this set! I love how it sounds at 116 BPM, the very fastest I could speed it up on my CDJ’s, and it almost has that “Grand Theft Auto 3” opening track vibe (only PC gamers will get that reference haha), so chill and layered with euphoric complexity, albeit the ocean wave sounds towards the end sound quite ridiculous speeded up that fast haha.. oh well.. Oh!! And also, I chopped up the Forty Cats' beauty, "Zen", with hot cues a bit, because I needed to hear that beautiful piano breakdown more than just once haha.. Anyway, thought I would explain some of the background on this one, if anyone even reads these things haha. If you ARE reading this, I hope you enjoy this peaceful set, “Introspections”. “Introspections” a Deep Progressive demo mix, recorded live Jan 31st, 2023

On Friday, May 19th, I recorded a demo set of some dreamy, relaxing proggy stuff that I have been listening to and collecting for the past couple months, literally to upload to dropbox so I could listen to it in the backyard BBQ’ing on a beautiful, early summer evening haha, the night before the Rinaly show at Ora, which was last Saturday (AND, a totally awesome time!!! My set should also be uploaded sometime soon). I actually did try to record this once before several weekends before that but I didn’t like a few things about it and cut the recording off midway through, but this time it turned out pretty cool, so I thought I would share. “Summer Prog – May 2023 ” a progressive house demo mix, recorded live May 19th, 2023

Hey guys, Happy July!! Can’t believe it’s already practically mid-summer already.. Well, as sure as the world keeps turning, I keep acquiring more and more music and messing around with it on the decks, and if I don’t happen to luck out and get a club gig opening for an artist that matches well with the sets I am working on at the time, I’ll just create a “demo set” and record it on my gear in my home studio to get this lovely music out there for people to enjoy! So once again, I have a brand-new demo mix of some chill and mesmerizing, mostly progressive and organic house, maybe a few tracks bordering on a little more progressive trancey sounds, but this was intended to be a deep and chillax mix to sit back and soak in some sun, hopefully with an amazing view and an icy cocktail haha.. This is mostly new stuff, which I try to always use brand new material on each mix (unless I am doing a classics mix of course haha) but I did bring back three tracks that I’ve played previously, two in recent live gigs, and one from a demo I did quite a while back that’s never left my mind, because, to me, this is about as perfect of a set I can ever aspire to do as far as the amazing tracks that are on it, and I wanted to immortalize these three tracks that I still seek out to listen to because I love them so much, namely, the catchy "Don’t Forget the Parachute” by Not Now Please, PROFF's magical "Light Magic”, and the eternally mesmerizing “Alya” by Maiga, all on one demo mix to enjoy together. But I literally LOVE every track on this set, and I hope you do too. The very last track, A.M.R.’s “Got A Feeling”, I really lucked out with because he played it on a recent Monstercat/Silk Music Showcase and he said it wasn’t going to be released until his artist album towards the end of the summer, but it just magically appeared in Beatport right when I was finalizing my playlist for this set, so I snagged it and snuck it in at as the last track. “July Prog” a progressive house demo mix, recorded live July 3rd, 2023

Hey guys, this is the latest iteration of my Progressive demo set series, called "October Prog".  I aspire to have this be a monthly podcast release, doesn't always work out that way with work and other "life" things that get in the way time-wise, not to mention that I am extremely picky about track selection for these sets, which can sometimes be hit-or-miss. However, I am very happy with the way this one turned out, and there are SO many great tracks on this mix. I just recently went to Japan on vacation for 10 days and was hoping to get this one done before I left. I recorded a version of it however it wasn't quite ready, but I listened to it a ton while in Japan, and as soon as I got back, I made some changes, even swapped out a few tracks with some new gems that released while I was abroad, and ended up with this. I'll have my Uplifting Trance opening set from the GANESH show uploaded next, and I'll also be opening for Irish Trance DJ/Producer, Billy Gillies, on November 17th at Ora, which I am really excited about. Anyway, this mix has pretty much been on constant rotation for my daily playlist, so I hope you enjoy it as much as I had fun recording it!! BTW, the photo is one I took during my Japan trip, from a botanical garden in Kobe called “Herb Garden” which was this really neat place that you had to take a gondola ride up to and then hike down the long trails of flowers and herbs. “October Prog” a progressive house demo mix, recorded live October 21st , 2023

On Sunday, January 21st, I recorded this, the next iteration of my Progressive House demo series, which I do every once in a while, when I feel like mixing but I don’t have any good shows coming up that match the music, yet meanwhile the flow of incoming tracks is just too great to ignore.. So, Viola!! Demo Set time haha.. Since I got tired of trying to think of clever new names for each demo set, I’ve just been calling them the month they were recorded in, followed by “Prog”, like “October Prog” late last year. But moving forward, I am going to call them a very generic “Prog Sessions”, because that’s what they are, even though everyone else also uses that same boring naming convention already haha. So, welcome to the January edition of Prog Sessions, the first of the New Year. And truth be known, I’ve been working on this one for an embarrassingly long time, and have actually recorded it several times before last Sunday, but they were never quite the right mix of tracks. I always have a rule for these things, and that is, would I want to listen to it multiple times myself. If the answer is yes, then I have a keeper (usually).. But if the answer is no, I keep on working on it. I figure that I need to make these things for myself first, make something that I love deeply, and hopefully if I get it right, other people might get some joy out of it too. So, with this one, I really now like the blend of Progressive House and Progressive Trance, some more deep and moody, and some more funky and Housey, with the common denominator of emotional and melodic undercurrent throughout. I almost think this one has a theme of “Love Sickness”, with the happy epiphanies of joy, followed by the moments of sadness or depression of longing for someone that maybe doesn’t notice you or like you back in the same way, but I’ll let you be the judge haha. “Prog Sessions, Jan 2024 Edition” a progressive house demo mix, recorded live January 21st , 2024

Hey guys, just like the last edition of Prog Sessions, I’ve been working on this one for a while and have recorded it numerous times and changed things around quite a bit. I recorded this iteration of it a couple weekends ago on Saturday, March 2nd, and I really liked how it turned out, so it’s a keeper. I felt that this one turned out how I had intended it to, relaxing and sublime, with a nice, mesmerizing journey through sound. One thing to note is that, the 2nd track, “Silence If You Fall” by Alex H, I first heard on complication back in December while on vacation in Kona, Hawaii, and I listened to this track again and again for my whole trip, I loved it so much.. Frustratingly it wasn’t released until just recently, but I knew as soon as it came out it would be my impetus to build a mix around it, such a wonderful, amazing track that just makes me feel like I am floating haha.. Anyway, without going into too much additional (and probably needless) detail, I welcome you to Prog Sessions, March Edition, and hope that you enjoy the mix!! PS: the photo is one I took on my vacation to Japan back in October; that was from an early morning walk on the beach in Hamamatsu, and yes those are my footprints haha. This one sort of happened by accident; I’d been working on my set for Solarstone and I was going through all of my recently purchased music, and for tracks that I thought were too mellow for the Solarstone show I was throwing them into a folder I just called “April Prog”, but I noticed later that I actually had a ton of great tracks in there so made a note to go back and see if I had the right elements to get a playlist to work.. I wanted to record a set to listen to for Saturday night BBQ, something I frequently do haha. So, I did, on that Saturday the 13th, this is what happened, and after I listened to it I knew I had a keeper. Probably “TMI” haha, but that’s literally how this set came to be, whereas many of my previous "Prog Sessions" sets took me numerous tries and probably weeks of trial and error to get to a version that I thought was good enough for streaming, so this was a pleasant surprise!! :D Anyway, without going into too much additional boring detail, I welcome you to Prog Sessions, April Edition, and hope that you enjoy the mix as much as I did recording it!! PS: the photo is one I took on my vacation to Germany back in October of 2022 for Oktoberfest; that was from a morning walk through a huge square in Stuttgart called Schlossplatz, and it has these two enormous and beautiful fountains, which were built in honor of King William of Württemberg, in 1863. The two landmarks are popular sights for tourists and visitors to Königstraße in Stuttgart, and I’ve always loved seeing them whenever I am there. I thought that photo would be perfect for this mix. “Prog Sessions, April 2024 Edition” a progressive house demo mix, recorded live April 13th, 2024

Hey Guys, getting the next iteration of my Progressive House series, “Prog Sessions” in just under the wire for May here haha. I was figuring that I would call it “June Edition”, but since the cover art is an awesome photo, taken over my house by my neighbor across the street, of the Aurora Borealis caused by the solar storm that so many people saw around the world during the month of May, and also in honor of my Dad’s 87th Birthday, which is TODAY (May 30th), I am sticking with “May Edition” for this one!! I have been struggling with time lately, as my “real job” has been super busy, so I haven’t had much time to work on DJ stuff lately. But I (of course) keep listening and constantly buying new music, and I had this massive stockpile of awesome new tunes building up, so much so that I really had a severe case of writer’s block with this one and had no idea where to start. So last weekend I spent hours downloading and arranging tracks and got it narrowed down to about 50 “keeper” tracks, then managed to narrow it down to the lucky 13 on this set, and recorded it on Monday, memorial Day Holiday.. I just recorded this the one time and that was it; all the tracks just worked together beautifully, which is rare for a one-time recording session!! Lastly, I usually try to put 14 tracks on these Prog demos, but Warung’s EPIC track, “All We Have Is Time”, seemed like such a great place to end it, and also loved the irony because all I DON'T have is time these days haha, so I stopped the recording there. “Prog Sessions, May 2024 edition” a progressive house demo mix, recorded live May 27th, 2024

Hey guys, hope you’ve been having an awesome summer!! Hard to believe that it is nearly September, when summer starts winding down, kids go back to school, and the beginnings of Fall start showing up here and there, my favorite season. Well, as you can tell, it’s been a very slow summer, DJ-gig-wise, which has kind of worked out for me because I have been buried at my job all summer long, but I also really miss playing in the clubs, and am hopeful the Seattle Trance scene will start picking up again with more shows in the Fall. Meanwhile, I never stop listening to, buying, and collecting music, so shows or no shows, I’ll always continue recording my live demo mixes. And, speaking of, I just recorded the latest in my “Prog Sessions” progressive house demo series, last weekend. I had a lot of amazing music to choose from, and had to spend a lot of time whittling it down to just 15 tracks, but I was really happy the way this one turned out, with brand new releases from some of my go-to progressive artists including Genix, ANUQRAM, PROFF, LTN, Paul Arcane, and I was SOOOO happy the insanely awesome Yeadon remix of Genix’s “Lights, Sound, Camera, Action” released the very day I recorded the mix!!! I had been checking Beatport every day since I first heard it, and it’s definitely my Fave track on the mix. Anyway, I’ve found that to keep the quality level to my very high standards for these things, my goal is always to have a set where I never feel like fast forwarding through any tracks, therefore I usually won’t have enough A-list tracks stored up to record one every month (I am quite picky haha), but I will try to get one out every other month. And meanwhile, I’ll continue working on my “Mission Trance” uplifting trance demo mixes as well, with about the same bi-monthly cadence haha. As usual, hope you enjoy!! Cheers! -Mark a.k.a. Gotek

“Prog Sessions, August 2024 Edition” a Progressive demo mix, recorded live Aug 17th, 2024

Hey guys, hope everyone’s having a Happy New Year so far! So, as I mentioned on my Facebook page, I tried to get this next iteration of my “Prog Sessions” demo series finished in December. I think I recorded it at least four times, and each time I felt it wasn’t quite ready for uploading here and released into the wild, it could be better. So I kept whittling away at it, and now it’s practically an entirely different mix than what I started with, but I am very happy with it. It might even be my favorite of the series so far haha. So (for me at least) the wait was worth it. Anyway, we are all our own wort critics I suppose, but I love every track on this mix, and love the journey through sound aspect of this mix, with a little something for everyone, some twists a turns through mostly instrumental melodic Progressive sounds, some more Housey, some a little more moody and ambient Deep Progressive “Guy J” kind of vibes, and even a dash of Progressive Trance. The highlight of this set is one of the only truly vocal tracks in the mix, the LTN remix of “Wait Forever” by Estiva. I first heard a bootleg of this track on YouTube probably a year ago and was so in love with this track, but it never released. Finally, I JUST found a radio edit of it, and had to use some looping and hot cues to make it work in this mix, but I just can’t get enough of this gorgeous track. “Prog Sessions, January 2025 Edition” a progressive house demo mix, recorded live Jan 11th, 2025

Hey guys, hope everyone’s having a great summer so far! So, I finally got this next iteration of my “Prog Sessions” demo series recorded over the 4th of July weekend! You may have noticed that I have taken a bit of a break on the DJ front this year, and that is primarily because of my actual career “day job” has finally gotten to the point where the workload and stress of my job kind of kills my energy level to work on music during the weekends. Plus, sadly, the Trance/Progressive scene in Seattle is going through a bit of a dry spell, not as many local Trance shows or opportunities for me to be an opener DJ for a headliner, etc. especially since several of my old and beloved “stomping-grounds” NW DJ clubs from yesteryear closed down during COVID.. However, rest assured, the passion will never truly die, and regardless of whether I am posting sets or not, I am still constantly listening, researching, and collecting new music for future DJ sets, so you know I’ll always be back eventually, like a moth to the flame haha. The good news is that, aside from getting out a new Prog Sessions set for your listening pleasure, I do have an awesome show coming up in a couple weeks at ORA Nightclub, where I will be opening for world-famous and beloved Italian DJ/Producer, Giuseppe Ottaviani, on Friday, July 25th!! Can’t WAIT for that one!! So, lastly, I really liked the way this one turned out, it was a one-time-through dry run that I recorded and thought, “that’s it”, that’s exactly what I wanted, that hypnotic journey through sound, beautiful Progressive House ramping into more ethereal Progressive Trance, my happy place.. Prog Sessions, July 2025 Edition - a Progressive demo mix, recorded live July 6th, 2025

Brand new!! Just sort of randomly decided to record this more mellow and melodic Progressive House demo mix last weekend, on Saturday, October 10th. I have been collecting a lot of really great, more down-tempo Progressive tracks for the past few months, and the bare bones of this mix just happened to be what I have been practicing with on my gear lately, which gave me this kind of melancholy, happy/sad feeling that I associate with Fall, my favorite time of year; the downward slide at the tail end of the Summer months, when the days start getting shorter and colder, the leaves in the NW start changing into the most brilliant colors and then fall from the trees, and we approach the holidays and the cold of Winter. Anyway, really liked the way this one turned out, a little kick here and there, but overall very euphoric, soothing, and dreamy.. I entitled it “Sunday”. I hope that you enjoy! -Mark

Progressive House Demo Mix - SUNDAY - Oct 10 - 2015

On the eve of Tuesday, May 14th, I finally got around to forcing myself to record a chill and progressivy semi-Balearic beach-themed demo mix that I entitled "Somewhere Over Ibiza", a mix that I had been planning and working on for probably 6 months or more. It all starts with an idea, and by the time I recorded this the entire mix had probably been abolished and re-worked something like 7 or 8 times, and most of the original tracks that inspired the mix in the first place didn’t end up making the final cut as it turned out (happens a lot actually). One of the reasons it took so long is I really wanted this to be (in my opinion) the perfect chill out ambient mix, and I kept coming across better and better tracks that I fell in love with, and the track list of “MUST HAVE'S” grew and grew until it was impossibly long, so I had to pain-stakenly go through and whittle it down to just 17 tracks, which was actually 3-4 tracks longer than I intended, but I believe that these are all exquisite, dreamy, spine-tingly, beautiful, gorgeous tracks of equal quality throughout, and that you will enjoy, hopefully multiple times! I set out to record a set that had a chill, beachy and/or "summer twilight on the terrace or poolside" vibe, not all necessarily the quintessential “Balearic” approved quality with the cliché acoustic guitar riffs etc, definitely some straight Progressive House and even a bit of Progressive Trance in there to keep things interesting and on the euphoric side, but I made sure all the tracks sounded great together, were in key, and offered a very gradual build and then tapered off into a chill-out remix of one of my all-time favorite tracks that I always need to include some iteration of in any beach-themed mix, Mike Foyle’s eternally beautiful piano version of “Shipwrecked”. Also, to enhance the beach ambiance I have added some recorded samples of tropical nature, birds, and the surf from various exotic beaches from around the world by plugging in my iPhone to the mixer in an unused channel and bringing in the sounds at opportune times to enhance the music. Lastly, just had a few new Voice ID Tags made and inserted by my beloved sound producer, Chris Dececio in the UK, as a finishing touch. Hope you enjoy this one, and as unusual, thank you for listening and for the support! Melodic Progressive Demo Mix - SUMMER SOMEWHERE, recorded live Sunday, Oct 16, 2016, Seattle.

Decided to record a new chill proggy-deep demo set to kick off 2017, sort of in a holding pattern in between shows, but meanwhile the music keep flowing endlessly and I can’t sit idle for too long haha.. I intended this mix to be a more ambient and Deep set, but did some genre blending and kind of started off more progressive and transitioned over into Deep House territory and then back into some lovely Progressive Trance for the last 5 or so tracks. So a little bit of a bi-polar demo per se (haha), but it seems to have a really nice vibe and was a really fun set to record. I hope that you enjoy it.. Cheers!! -Mark

Deep & Progressive Demo Mix - WINTER CHILL, recorded Sunday, Jan 8th, 2017, Seattle

Brand new – I have been meaning to record a set of all of this beautiful deep & proggy house music I’ve been listening to and accumulating ever since the ABGT 250 show, primarily inspired by the Above & Beyond deep set that kicked off the show and the entire 2nd day (Anjunadeep day) which was literally one of the best days of my life, music-wise, pure magic all day long, and a show I will never forget. For this set I did a dry run and recorded it once just to listen to it myself and practice, but ended up keeping the first take, it just seemed to fall together and turned out really cool (I thought so at least). For the ocean sounds I plugged my iPad into one of the channels on the mixer and played some relaxing beach sounds while I recorded the set, just because I was wanting to add some ambient sounds to enhance the chill vibe. It's a nice journey through sound to get you in the mood for the warmer months ahead and delves a bit into that grey area where progressive house, deep house, techno, and progressive trance all collide to make something very sublime, soothing and wonderful, which I love so much. Deep Progressive demo set - SPRING CHILL 2018 - recorded live on Sat, Apr 21, 2018

On Sunday, June 24th, I recorded a set of some beautiful and chillaxed melodic progressive tracks from some artists that I have been listening to a lot lately, mostly when I am at work trying to concentrate and focus, or while driving, this music really clears my mind like a deep breath of fresh cool air, so decided to entitle this mix "Breathe". On this one I connected my iPad to the mixer to augment the set with some relaxing beach and nature sounds to help with that chill vibe I was hoping to inspire. Melodic Progressive demo set - "BREATHE" - recorded live on Sun, June 24, 2018

On Friday, December 4th, 2020 I recorded this as a demo set for my long-time DJ buddy, Eric Weber, a.k.a. WEB, who was nice enough to invite me to be the guest DJ on his monthly podcast, "United by Music", December edition. This was kind of a special mix for me because I finally got to play a bunch of amazing tracks I had been listening to all summer and had envisioned trying to make a beach-themed progressive soundscape, and was finally able to make it happen and all the tracks seemed to fall together so beautifully together. As I have done several times in the past, I attached an iPad to my mixer and added some ambient oceanic sounds over the music to further enhance the "beachy vibe", and also added an additional floater track at the very end as kind of an "encore", just because I loved this track so much but it was too slow to mix in, turned out kind of neat and dreamy (I think so anyway haha). Lastly, the cool photo I used for the album art was sent to me by a good friend named Andrea who took this gorgeous picture on a walk on Rialto Beach in the Olympic National park in WA, a super-coool photo and I thought it was perfect for the mix (thank you Andrea!!)!! Anyway, Happy New Year to everyone, and I hope that 2021 turns out to be a much better, happier, safer, and prosperous year for all of us than 2020 was!! Cheers everyone!!

Note: Mark only uses AIFF lossless quality tracks mostly purchased at Beatport.com (except for producer demos). All mixes were either recorded live in the club or directly from Mark's gear (DJM A9 Mixer, 2 Pioneer CDJ3000's) recorded on a Zoom H4n Pro in WAV format, then professionally sound leveled post-recording, Voice ID Tagged, and  converted to MP3 by Chris Dececio Studios in the UK. EVERY single mix on Mark's Soundcloud was recorded live and in the moment on top-notch Pioneer DJ gear, not mixed with computer software, so they might not be exactly perfect 100% of the time, but they are "real", which is a standard of mix quality, authenticity, care, passion for live mixing, and DJ integrity Gotek is proud of. =)
