Thinking back to Burning Man 2019 now, during our time of ‘collective isolation’ is a salve for caged souls.  I am sure everyone who reads this would rather be there than living in our current (sur)reality — BUT — This is also a moment to look forward.  I have always felt that in life one’s highs are defined by one's lows, and vice versa.  You don’t know how happy you can be until you’ve found the other extreme, and then you notice how fleeting both poles are.  So come with me and put yourself back on the Playa on Wednesday…the sun is going down, the heat of the day has given over to the cooling late afternoon.  The sky is a deep and darkening blue with a few wispy clouds to frame your bliss.  You are surrounded by your best friends in the thick of the best party anywhere on the planet at that moment…maybe ever.  You have an icy cocktail in your hand from the bar but the chills that travel down your spine are from the music, the dance, and the love.  I hope you listen to this live set and it makes you dance like you did then.

Paul Geddes - DISTRIKT Music - Burning Man 2019

Marbs is a co-founder of the Desert Hearts Community and a papa bear to the festival crew that has become a defining staple to the Southern California underground scene. He and Evan Casey, launched the Desert Hearts Black label in 2019, to champion music from the dark, textured techno landscape that these two have been spinning for years at the annual Desert Hearts Festival and their globally renowned parties. 

Marbs' Perspectives mix exudes a sound that floats on psychedelic currents, treading at high speeds along thick basslines and futuristic sound effects, all coming together to capture a refined techno aesthetic that burrows listeners deep into the underground.

PERSPECTIVES EPISODE 11 / JUNE 2020 - Marbs Guest Mix

My 4 hour set from the end of Virtual Classics this past weekend. This was my first internet live set since the mid 2000s when I was doing Chilling Moments via shoutcast weekly. With no crowd really to draw from I basically got to explore my own 4 hour journey through progressive. Starting in tech house territory it works it's way up to classics progressive house/trance and finishes off with basically about an hour of classics progressive breaks.

Was a blast to play and will likely lead to more classic live mixes from me in the not too distant future.

****Disclaimer****

A bit of a disclaimer here as I am usually an audio nazi when it comes to what things sound like but for some yet to be determined reason I experienced some serious static feedback for a little bit during this set that has made it's way onto the recording. Somewhere around 1 hour 40 minutes I began to notice this rogue static charge when I touched the mixer. I figure it comes down to me dancing around creating a charge and/or a bit of a ground issue for some reason. Weird part is it only lasts 10-15 minutes of the 4 hour mix so I'm still happy to share the mix.
