Faustix & Imanos have a knack for transferring vocals to new places and spaces and on their debut Jeffree's EP titled Echoes, they've done just that. LIPS' tune "Everything to Me" is a guilty pleasure you'd hear while shopping with your girlfriend but be too embarrassed to Shazam. The Faustix & Imanos remix lands it into a perfect space of female acid pop that we can't seem to take off of repeat.

Next up, the duo work dark magic to bring you "Echoes feat. Data Romance," an original tune where Data Romances' haunting vocals meet a side-chained electrical surging bassline. Her simple yet deep voice somehow creates amazing contrast with the harder synths in the drop.

"Run Run Run The Trap" is a re-imagining of the Dragonette original "Run Run Run." It reminds me of what La Roux's music would sound like if she grew up in "The Bluff," boasting dark pop 80's pop with frantic hi-hats and 808 kicks.

Deep in the Mojave Desert, under the November full moon known among many names as the "Moon When All Is Gathered In", we gathered and danced for the last time in 2013 . . . and what a gathering it was! This set was played in the wee hours of the night into the sunrise, during a most epic moonset. 
Many thanks to everyone who 'gathered in' to bring this very active year of Full Moon Gatherings to a close with such a wonderful dance.

The flood gates of Burning Man have finally just opened after an all-star desert thunderstorm and a tedious wait in line for most. As burners arrive on the playa from all over the world, we watch them eagerly leaving their vehicles to run over and join their friends on the dance floor. Their urgency is quite justified. The mammoth bass has been thumping all day long and we have none other than Wobs driving us into sunset with his signature blend of deep and funky house.

It's safe to say that Desert Dwellers are the most OG desert DJs that we know. In fact, Treavor Moontribe was one of the founding members of Moontribe Collective, the original community of California desert dancers who've been gathering under the full moon since 1993. We owe a ton of our inspiration to Moontribe and we might even go so far to say there wouldn't be a Desert Hearts without our founding fathers of the desert scene.

While we've had Treavor Moontribe absolutely kill it for us in the past, it's his ultra psychedelic Desert Dwellers project with partner Amani Friend that really made international waves. Predominantly a downtempo project, we first heard about a super rare techno / tech house set performed by Desert Dwellers through our partner Kristoff. And he just wouldn't stop raving about it...

Honestly we had absolutely no idea what to expect from a techno set by Desert Dwellers other than the good word of one of our partners. Their set was the one true wildcard on our lineup and it ended up being one of the most radical sets of the weekend. With the first 1.5 hours of the set being all original material, Desert Dwellers pulled off one of the best sets we've ever heard at Desert Hearts.

With a heartfelt nod to those who paved the way for us, we hope you enjoy Live @ Desert Hearts- Desert Dwellers - 018 as much as we do. <3

Bellhop - Moontribe 23 Yr. Anniversary

It's been many years since I've DJ'd a Space Cowboy's party so I was thrilled to be invited to play their most epic event of the year. I've heard stories about Breakfast of Champions, but had yet to attend. I DJ'd Sea of Dreams the night before and was surprised how many friends of mine were just laying low and getting sleep on NYE so they were fresh &amp; ready to rage at B.O.C. the next morning. When I arrived, the event had already reached capacity and the entire street was packed with dancing freaks! After getting my breakbeat on with Kapt'n Kirk out side, I went into Might and fulfilled another dream come true, played the main room on their legendary RLA sound system. A little more background on this week’s guest...
As long time North SF Bay native event producer and DJ, Zack Darling is well known as a highly effective mover and shaker. His DJ career spans over 20 years and began as a 14 year electro-punk DJ playing late night sessions on public and pirate radio stations in Mendo-fornia. He’s since dropped multi-genre-smackdown beats on night clubs and parties large and small, including Decadance, Space Cowboy’s Unimog, Mystic Beat Lounge’s Techno-Tribal Dance, as well as some of the biggest clubs and dance events in San Francisco, like 1015 Folsom, Temple, Sea of Dreams, Club Mighty, Kelly’s Mission Rock and many more. He also regularly plays within the festival circuit, including Burning Man, Burning Man Decompression Street Fair and Harmony Festival. Zack has played every year as a headliner at EarthDance Festival for a decade now, and in 2002 was the first electronic dance music DJ to play the main stage at Reggae on the River where he shocked the Humboldt rasta crowd with nu-skool ragga breaks. Musically Zack’s style is most difficult to classify as it spans a gamut broader than most dance floor DJs. His mixes are expressions of the alignment between Mashups and bass-heavy dance floor beats. Zack is moving forward into a style where he can follow all of his passions, old and new, merging Breakbeats, House, Dubstep and Mid-Tempo Hip Hop, with Reggae, New Wave, Folk, Funk, Soul and especially classic Rock favorites – remixed, retooled, repurposed for the dance floor. The emerging name for this unique musical flavor of bass-heavy dance floor bootlegs? Mashstep. Recently Zack launched the popular new website www.mashstep.com where fans of this sound explosion can saturate their spirits in bass-heavy dancefloor mashup wompers. Zack continues to feed the flames of the music community through his event production efforts. He is the lead producer of the Mystic Beat Lounge Techno-Tribal Dance, Associate Producer of Harmony Festival, North Bay Burning Man Regional Contact and co-founder of the cult-following nightclub event, Decadance. He produces many of the graphic art, posters and websites for the Northern California concert and festival industry via his Santa Rosa based company, Zack Darling Creative Associates which also serves as a central point for his event production endeavors.

This is also the 1st release in our brand new, psychedelic-leaning imprint, 'NOX'. With a focus on the more 'night-time' sounds of the Techgnosis Records spectrum, the NOX series of releases will be ensuring that fans and DJs of the genre will be kept stocked with fresh weapons!
