DJ Tennis - Robot Heart Burning Man 2013

With the scene and stage having been set by Herbie Saccani at Hacienda NYE at The Albert Hall, the one true innovator Marshall Jefferson took to the stage in the run up to midnight at the event, the first up of trio of US DJ legends performing that evening.

Given an hour to play the best of MJ’s modern and classic working it house music, his stylings include syncopated vocals and such tricks as he begins with some deep downbeat dirty grooves, punctuated by strong female vocalsm following an anthemic New York party style  for the night with tight us club material. 

Moving towards electric dubs and oldschool samples with the bumping groove of Mark Knights and  Martin Ten Velden Remix of the space aged “In The Beginning”, a change of pace comes with what many people have said was their highlight of the night Joes Smooth’s “Promised Land” with a long mix out into the charging piano dub of Marshall’s own classic “Move Your Body”, weaved in and out by the very hands that produced it.

Continuing along with the theme with a couple of classics, the extended vocal intro of C And C Music Factory’s anthem “Pride (A Deeper Love)”, Strictly Rhythm’s “Deep Inside” by Harddrive, Marshall then takes things more Balearic with Junior Jack’s re-working of Dajae’s “Everyday My Life” before taking things deep and disco to the end of his set with Adeva Vs Nathan Rivers “In And Out (Of My Life).

With MJ handing over to Frankie Knuckles at midnight, The Jackson Sisters “I Believe In Miracles” gets a room shaking run out before Marshall takes things to the bridge with a Basement Jaxx cut, “Samba Magic” from the Summer Daze EP.

Zeitgeber is the duo of Speedy J and Lucy. Both renowned techno artists in their own  right, they’ve teamed up together to create a spellbinding album of abstract electronics. As  the owner of Electric Deluxe, Speedy J has overseen one of modern techno’s finest  imprints. He was there at techno’s beginnings as a DJ and producer, and he continues to  stand at its avant-garde, pushing his artists and himself to continue to innovate.

The same  goes for Stroboscopic Artefacts head Lucy, whose young imprint has never failed to  impress in its ambition and output. Lucy has a clear vision of what he wants with his  imprint, and across the label’s three album releases you can see that it has been  achieved. Zeitgeber marks a new era for Stroboscopic Artefacts. DJ Three has been tirelessly holding the flag for underground electronic music in the US since his rise out of the sunny state of Florida in the early 90’s. In that time, he’s emerged as one of the brightest DJ talents from the US and continues to be a true inspiration around the globe.  Three's tour dates show both diversity in audience and a genre-bending passion for good music.  He’s held residencies at New York City's Twilo, Cielo (Robots), Love, Blk Market Membership and Output in Brooklyn, as well as Florida’s legendary Simons in the 90’s, Snatch in Tampa in the 00’s and The Electric Pickle in Miami all while playing lauded guest spots at San Francisco’s Wicked, Sublevel in Los Angeles, fabric London, Panorama Bar, DC10, Club Eleven in Tokyo and forward thinking festivals like Labyrinth Festival (Japan), Sunset Campout (USA), Day Zero (Mexico), Rainbow Serpent Festival (Australia) and Houghton Festival (UK).
