Started in October 2006 by Steve Lawler, VIVa Music began life as a conduit for the internationally renowned DJ and Producer to release the wealth of underground music he encountered on his travels. Now, just a few years later VIVa is a self-contained hotbed for new talent which draws attention from DJs, punters and producers alike. Having previously handled the now-classic and traditional vinyl label Harlem Records, Lawler decided VIVa was to be a forward thinking outlet for quality music and boldly announced that VIVa was to be digital only. As well as a clear mission to look towards the future of the music industry, this was a step to ensure that music could be released quickly and retain the freshness that the labels A&R was struck by. Far from the template set out by many of Lawler's contemporaries, VIVa quickly established itself as a label where artists could be themselves and write music that isn't defined by just A&R, but by one simple guideline: Quality. This has meant the label has gone on to release music from a wide range artists, from major players like Lawler and Audiofly through to burgeoning talent like Livio & Roby and Nicole Moudaber. In keeping with an ever evolving outlook, 2009 will see VIVa further transformed. Worldwide tour nights, Festival Arena, International Residency's and a new UK based residency at the legendary Ministry of Sound in London are just the tip of the iceberg. Always ones to buck trends, the VIVa family are pressing vinyl again alongside it's digital output as well as expanding its roster of relatively unknown talent rather than rely on the tried and tested. At the forefront of this exclusive roster of talent are the likes of Vrajitoroo, David Pher, Dragosh, Adroid Cartel, Jimmy Hill, Alex Tepper, TRNNSTR, Darius Syrossian & NYRA, Erphun and Sean Miller but VIVa will continue to work with what it considers extended family for both releases as well as remixes; which means the likes of Jamie Jones, Audiofly, Simon Baker, Tiefschwarz, Bearweasel, David Durango and many, many more. The UK-hailing artist ,Type 1  has been deeply immersed in the dance music scene for well over a decade as a DJ, producer, label owner & promoter. Still seen as a new name to some, he has amassed an impressive back catalogue of releases having released well over 60 tracks and remixes across 15 different labels which include Little Mountain Records, Italo Business, Tech Head Heatflow, Itch and many others.

Growing up in the outskirts of London and buying records at a very young age, London is where he earned his apprenticeship and plied his trade full time for almost 10 years. This has seen him gain residencies at some of London’s best clubs such as, The End, The Cross, The Fridge, Fire & The Mass. Moving his music to new ears, he’s guested at other major London clubs including Brixton Academy, Ministry Of Sound, Cable, SE One, The Egg, Pacha, 54, Coronet, just to name a few.
He has also toured Ibiza on several occasions, which included him playing at the super clubs Eden and Es Paradis and other famous spots such as Café Del Mar & Mambo’s.
Driven by the desire to create his own music, he has accepted the challenge of creating his own sounds. Type 1 attained a degree in music production in 2008 and started his own production trail. This has subsequently led him to releasing and remixing on multiple labels and further on,starting his own label :‘Malfunktion Records’.

His tech house productions and DJ sets are always full of energy, just like his personality.

It is the support of Type 1's productions that speaks for itself with A-listers such as Richie Hawtin, Luciano, Chris Leibing, Dubfire, Laurent Garnier, Mark Knight, Marco Carola, Jon Rundell to name a few.

Type 1 now resides in Kuala Lumpur after living in Koh Phangan, Thailand, famous for the monthly Full Moon parties where he is holding a residency and guesting at the many other parties around the island which include some of the huge festivals in the Koh Phangan jungle, which see thousands of party goers flock to every month. He has also guested at every major underground venue in Bangkok.
