Sam’s EP boot’s off with ‘Chocolate’, a track that builds and builds using detuned synths, stabs and funky drums to make any dance floor erupt. ‘Domino’ is a track that’s bassline drones underneath its own distinctive synth line to keep the drums rolling along steadily. The title track ‘Black Leather’ is everything you would expect in a Drumcode record; a subtle throbbing bass line which, keeps the track moving before the synth stabs enrapture the track and twist it into a dark, throbbing composition. The final track ‘Daegon’ uses dubbed out drums to incorporate a synth melody line that will blow your socks off and rounds off this well shaped EP.

Using rolling percussion and a thumping kick, Luigi’s four track EP starts with a bang as the title suggests; ‘Primo’ really is unbeatable! Luigi uses synth stabs that add character and finesse to this outstanding piece of music. ‘I Believe’ uses dubby drums and an infectious vocal to really tear things apart before dropping into a melodic synth section that will make anyone move. Tantra’s melodic groove synths help this early morning track really come into its own before the main melodic section, accompanied by strings, will take any clubber to their own dimension. Hypnotizek rounds off the EP being more upfront about where it’s going. This cheeky, groove based track will warm up a dance floor quickly and get people in the mood for a real party!

DC122 - Luigi Madonna - Primo - Drumcode

Harvey McKay starts his next single using a killer vocal hook and heavy-duty synth stabs to full effect, conjuring up more of Harvey’s unique style with ‘Silk Road’. The second track ‘Slip’ uses ghostly pads that float over the top of a crisp, chuggy kick drum combining two different qualities before welcoming the percussive synth blips into the mix. The third and final track ‘Start Running’ is chuggy and uses a mesmerising bass loop to draw a dancefloor in. The vocal stabs sit nicely on top before the lead vocal gives the track character and definition.

DC124 - Harvey McKay - Silk Road - Drumcode

Adam Beyer and Ida Engberg come together to create a new track after the success of the highly acclaimed 'Lovecraft'. ‘Unanswered Question’ uses a weighty kick drum and a sensuous vocal before the track breaks into some groovy synth stabs. Julian Jeweil’s remix of ‘Unanswered Question’ is a late night dubbed out version that compromises of a groove that pulsates throughout and falls into the original synth stabs before rising back into the funky, dubbed out groove. The Dense & Pika remix uses unusual percussion to produce a chunky groovy rhythm. When the track breaks it takes the listener on an eerie journey before it kicks back in to the chunky drum beat. The final track ‘Virga’ is a more melodic techno offering that finishes the single off with a classy finish.

When you're talking about techno, few names have been innovating and evolving as much as Robert Hood. When he's not running things over at M-Plant, he can be found touring the festival circuit with his live show and releasing tonnes of fresh new material.

Today we concentrate on his more melodic alias and under the name Floorplan, Hood has released a stunning album showcasing a slightly different yet equally strong sound.

Celebrating all that's ear-piercing and Techno, P.E.A.R.L. surges through with an emanating soundscape of near, far and leftfield embodiment of energy. Following on from the well received Ground Fault Interrupt, P.E.A.R.L. brings his Spanish stamina and Berlin influence to the table in Biblical amounts.

Abrasive and dancefloor-focused "DESOLATION" is no stranger to the harder sounds of percussion. With a subtle ghost, and ever tense, this track rides through red traffic lights, and begins at the end of your comfort zone; Techno at its best.

Evoking a visceral reaction, "IN SPACE" exerts its crude, unearthly series of paranormal Techno sound from the get go. A long drawn tool of the trade, comprising of little more than drone and percussion, this gives way to be adapted into any mix in the right hands.

"FLAME ON EARTH" doffs in salutation to the afterparty. With a constant identity of beep and bleeps - continually growing from somewhere from within itself - this track leaves a trail where no path lies.

Cascading between dark and light, this is a release of effectual Techno worthy of any record bag, regardless of your sub-genre preference - a real weapon of profession.

Up first is Get Enough, seven minutes of seductive techno that has an almost machine-gun like disco synth firing across the groove. It is a rumbling peak time track with real force and energy that will bring any floor to life. The title track, Toleranz, is a gritty and stripped back basement cut with dry hits and burrowing acid bass that takes you deep into the night. Cobra then proves this pair have real breadth in the studio and is a barrel chested house cut with more big hits, rib rattling bass and incendiary techno hi hats that really get you on your toes. Remixing are the tech duo of Pleasurekraft, whose releases on Octopus and Mood Records have won them plenty of DJ and dancing fans. They layer in some dark melodies to SQ80 and build it steadily before allowing the militant drums and crisp snares to explode and drive you and the whole club forwards.

Gregor has delivered four outstanding tracks for Drumcode that are creative, whilst still functional. Relevance uses a filtered, bubbling synth line and sparse percussion effectively to build a groove that will rip through any club. System X uses a detuned synth stab and an unusual bass line harmoniously to construct a track that sounds like its from out of space. Secura is a straight-laced techno groover that uses some distinctively unfamiliar sounds. The track is gelled together with a repetitive hum sound that adds to the groove. The fourth track on the EP; Call To Arms, uses a melodic rhythmic sequence and reverberated drums to eloquently smash any dancefloor.

Having opened the label doors to debutants from across the globe, many of which are just stepping out on their musical journey, SCI+TEC are happy to present a first release on the label from an artist who has been an integral cog in the US electronic music machine for many years.There are not many resident DJ's who can transport a whole dancefloor following from one club to another. Boris the St. Petersburg native and NYC resident did just that. With the imminent closure of his beloved Crobar and having built a huge loyal following through his three year residency, he simply uprooted, moved the 20 blocks north to Pacha New York and continued the party with his "Believe in Boris" faithful. Boris is the latest in a long line of NYC residents that have bonded tightly with their crowd and risen to become folk heroes, both in the US and across the pond. Having plied his groove-based power-house sound across the finest clubs in the US in the early 2000's, it wasn't long before Boris was lending his musical talents to remixing some of the biggest names in pop and finding his name at the top of the Billboard Club chart. On the underground, where he's most at home, Boris has wowed us with his club smashes "I Can't Wait"(Toolroom), "Ariba" (Great Stuff) and the classic "The Drums" (Nervous Records).His debut double-header for SCI+TEC sees Boris presenting his unrivalled dancefloor knowledge in the form of "Generate" and "Foul Beats". Nothing rotten here though, just two prime slices of techno. Whilst the a side warms us with its funky bassline and and elasticated poppin' riff, the b side is pure NYC with its heads-down no-nonsense pile-driver of a kickdrum. One for the darkrooms, its intense atmosphere and huge build will ensure many roof raising moments. Also included on the package is the equally intense and powerful digital exclusive cut, "Check It."
