Subsquad Prod. présente le troisième volet de sa série de compilation, les CITY SQUAD, qui mettent en lumière une ville et ses artistes avec des morceaux exclusifs, le tout en téléchargement libre.
Ce troisième opus est dédié à Marseille (et sa voisine Aix-en-Provence) et présente 14 producteurs locaux, depuis la musique Roots jusqu'au Stepper en passant par le pur Dub de Sound System. Vous pouvez également découvrir, sur la page dédiée sur notre site internet, la liste des Sound Systems locaux ainsi qu'un historique du Dub à Marseille.

Subsquad Prod present the third part of our serie of compilation, the CITY SQUAD. Each part will present the dub makers of a city (and its surroundings) through a compilation of exclusive tunes that will be available in free download.

This third part is dedicated to Marseille (and its neighbor Aix-en-Provence) and presents 14 producers from this area, from Roots music to Stepper. You can also discover, on our website, the list of local Sound System and a short historic of Dub history in Marseille.

JahYu: the Korean word for ‘freedom’, this is an artist whose music is rooted in the notion of freedom, freedom of sound, freedom of expression, freedom from mind and freedom of the soul. JahYu uses his creative freedom to connect directly with his ancestors and create music that somehow transports the listener through time and space. Oriental flute and string melodies slide effortlessly amongst powerful roots-based dubstep, creating a sound that is unique and full of flavour. This enigmatic Korean-German producer blends both sides of his heritage, the digital steppers that emerged from Europe in the 1990’s alongside the traditional oriental music of his mother’s homeland, Korea, augmented by a deeper exploration of contemporary bass music. It is said that JahYu’s family descend from the same lineage of Go Jumong, the founder of the great Goguryeo Kingdom of the Far East, a people renown for their ancestral worship and unique musical expression. Goguryeo music was even adopted as official court music for the powerful Sui and Tang dynasties of China, many times throughout history these Chinese dynasties were at war with Goguryeo, however, the music of the enemy, Goguryeo, was still able to flourish in China and has been consistently performed across Asia for hundreds of years. Perhaps this explains the majestic qualities of JahYu’s music. JahYu’s productions provide us with the opportunity to discover our ancestral roots through music. Roots music is not a sound, it is a feeling and a feeling that JahYu is able to evoke with profound intensity.

Introducing the second release in the dub conductor digital dubplate series!! Nano dub was made in our Marseille studio in April 2019. The track features a bass guitar sample which has been distorted to create a really wild and deep sound. It's a real skanker with 1000 different snares, plenty of authentic percussion and a 'womping' repetitive upper bass lick. The versions take the listener into multiple different dimensions with their excessive use of  phasers, panning, echos and reverbs, all mixed and performed live in a real dub style.

Nano Dub Part 1 (DCMDIGI002A1)

The biggest and baddest Vibronics anthem of all time featuring the original clarion call from Professa Natti. The Professa rose to fame as mic chanter on the Jah Tubbys Sound System. This tune was first released back in 2012 and immediately sold out, the vinyl record has now become a serious collectors item. Here we re-issue it with a never before heard dub mix on the b-side. Part of the SCOOPS Gold Disc Classic Series !!
