Presenting DBGI004- a hot and messy, sub dusting release from Chungo. Returning with a two track EP, designed to have you singing along to its melodies and moving your feet.

The first track ’Charcoal’ is a massive rainbow road bop, featuring Chungo’s groove at its finest, served up with a swinging dream of a melody which will keep you awake at night. The second track ‘Shuv It’, is an evolving pop group of pads and vocal stabs. Snappy percs and heavy sub frequencies, to conclude a two tracker made for DJs and movers.

UK producer Chungo returns to Scuffed Recordings for his third EP on the label, with three new tracks pairing playful melodies and bouncing grooves with his signature bass-driven, percussive techno style.

On the LX EP, Chungo further explores the melodic elements he set out on his Pineapple release, laying down an addictive earworm of a lead on the title track, while staying consistent to the percussive style he’s made his hallmark – pulling in influences from UK funky, garage, baile funk, and techno.

Fresh off the release of their first birthday compilation release this Summer which included contributions from Jossy Mitsu, Stones Taro, ELLES, Black Cadmium and more, Sticky tapes are back with a mini-compilation entitled ‘hey, do you need someone to talk to?’ 

This digital-only release features tracks from Tim Reaper, Ell Murphy & Picasso, PRAYER, IN2STELLAR, Theo Everyday and a debut outing from Kitsta. 

Sticky Tapes launched their first tape back in July 2020 with Violet and ELLES and since then have released tapes with the likes Interplanetary Criminal, CC:Disco, Asquith, Om Unit and many more. To date, they’ve raised over £2000 for six different charities, all chosen by the artists on the tapes.

As always with Sticky Tapes projects, all proceeds will be being donated to charity. This release aims to raise awareness of three mental health helplines (The Samaritans, SANEline and Switchboard), all doing amazing work for those who need someone to talk to when they are at their worst. 

To further awareness of the helplines, Sticky Tapes will be posting 500 posters all over London that feature rip tickets with the numbers of the helplines.

The compilation delivers a broad sound palette, from spaced-out trance to IN2STELLAR to ethereal breaks from PRAYER.

PREVIEWS - STICKY 007: 'hey, do you need someone to talk to?' mini-compilation

@leshlingi debuts on Scuffed Recordings with three tracks spanning anthemic breaks, wonky UK techno and percussive club music.

Born in Iceland and now based in London, INGI has begun to make a name for himself in the UK’s club scene with his brand of broken UK club music, pulling on influences from across the electronic music spectrum.

His ‘Wrestle’ EP on Fly By Night Recordings was released at the end of 2021 and saw support from the likes of Madam X, Danielle, Anastasia Kristensen, and Frazer Ray.

Starting off proceedings on the EP is the electrifying title track ‘Fade’, anchored around glitched-out vocals and powerful breaks.

Up next is ‘Kurt’, an altogether more leftfield club track with swung percussion, robotic bass stabs, and metallic synth work.

Closing out the release is ‘Point’, whose staccato vocal stabs and rolling percussion pay homage to some of the best of UK techno and bass music.

INGI - Fade EP (Previews)

Deep, dank and exhilarating, this week’s ride comes via Lala. Shell Tape 85 is one for late nights, single red light bulbs and heads down. Lather up and slide in, it’s “Rubba Dub Dub”.

Dub is indeed the theme of this Tape, with its eternal tendrils echoing throughout the mix, both literally and figuratively. Heavyweight chamber dubstep menacingly morphs into trippy drill club tools, with 808s booming and high hats clattering. Grimey bass, liquid lyrics and sledgehammer steppers all rub shoulders in a decidedly contemporary, genre-less and global take on dub’s endless offshoots.

Sounding like Grand Theft Auto: South London, Lala’s Shell Tape contribution covers classic dubstep sounds, boundary-pushing deconstructed club, timeless breaks and mutant bass music. It’s primal, it’s perfect and it’s thrilling, so hold tight and run it up.

Detroit native Young Muscle (@architecture_in_tokyo) brings his first full EP to Scuffed Recordings, exploring an array of heavy hitting electronic influences over three new tracks.

Young Muscle has been a part of the Scuffed roster since late 2019, appearing on the Scuffed Presents 003 compilation with his track ‘Vivid Dream of Death’, which picked up support from the likes of Oneman, Gigsta, and Minor Science. 

Following an EP with longtime collaborator Marshall Applewhite in 2020 on Junted, Young Muscle presents his Amalgamation EP; his first solo release, which melds sounds ranging from broken techno, breaks, bass, and leftfield electronic.

Opening track ‘Pluck’ is driven along by rolling percussion and tied together with an infectious flute hook that echoes back to the glory days of UK funky. 
Up next is ‘Come and See’, which lurches forward with intricately dissected breaks and distorted vocal samples. 
Rounding things off is the appropriately named ‘Beat Up By the Drum’, a relentlessly percussion-fuelled club workout.  

Early support on the release has come from Peach on NTS, Emerald on Rinse FM, and Mor Elian on HÖR.
