Moments in Time is my debut recording and features new arrangements of some of my favorite tunes. The moments here were recorded at Zone 8 Studios in Granville WV between 2014 and 2016 and were engineered and produced by the fabulous Mark Poole. Mark also plays percussion on tracks 1 and 2. All the guitar picking, bass playing, mouth trumpet, scatting and singing is me, though Mark's dog Flipper makes a cameo appearance at the end of track 5! Artwork is by my good friend Ashley Kyber. These tunes are dedicated to my wonderful family: Maura, Callum, Finlay and Owen who are such great treasures in my life and allow my escapades into the musical world.

Moments in Time

After living in WV since 2006, you can't escape this tune! I choose to play it as an instrumental using (probably way too many!) reharmonized chords which change on almost every melody note. The intro was subconsciously borrowed from Waltzing Matilda I think.

Take Me Home, Country Roads

I love Cole Porter! The intro to this version was inspired by a piano intro I heard on a Julie London version of this tune. I wish I could write songs like this!

You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To

This is probably one of my favorite jazz tunes ever! I never get tired of playing it. Like all these great tunes, there are endless ways of playing them, too so they last a lifetime.

Stella By Starlight

This Rodgers and Hart tune comes from the 1928 musical "Present Arms". My version was inspired by hearing Charlie Byrd play it solo many years ago!

You Took Advantage Of Me

Solo guitar arrangement of one of my favorite Rodgers and Hart tunes. This one is from the musical Babes in Arms!

My Funny Valentine

A very popular tune written by Bart Howard in 1954. Here's my arrangement for voice and guitar. Hopefully I didn't get too carried away during the instrumental break!

Fly Me To The Moon

Louis Armstrong had the most well-known version of this tune. Here's my version done as a slow solo-guitar instrumental with a definite borrow of a Martin Taylor lick in the intro :)

What a Wonderful World

Here's a new spin on one of my favorite Bill Withers tunes! I play guitar and fretless bass in this one and am doing the singing and mouth trumpet solo! Mark Poole provides a great shuffle beat using an echo on the snare drum.

Lovely Day

This track originally appeared on the 1944 movie Holiday Inn. It was supposed to be the big hit from the movie, but was totally eclipsed by "White Christmas"! Still, a great tune. This version features me on upright bass, guitar and vocals. Mark Poole supplies the percussion.

Be Careful, It's My Heart

Billy Taylor and Dick Dallas wrote this tune, but it's usually associated with Nina Simone who had probably the most memorable version. Here's my "open-mic" version!

I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free
