First, I would like to say thank you for reading this. That means that you liked my songs enough to see what I’m about. That means a lot to me.
I’m a working man and a family man. The years digging ditches and breaking my back to put food on the table, has given me enough ammo to write a song or two. I like to write songs about real life with all of its struggles, beauty and grit…

In this digital age of perfect music I'm trying to leave the human imperfections in the tracks. Most parts are done straight through with no splices. A missed note or chord here or there, bit out of time...trying to keep it raw. Maybe I go too far sometimes?

Best described as eclectic, my style is a soothing mix mirroring my personality: mostly mellow with the occasional outburst.  Although I have a background in classical piano I have always loved to create and improvise,sometimes to the chagrin of my teachers.  Now I see how formal studies and improvisation fit together perfectly.  I hope to always keep growing and learning, reflecting the beauty of Christ in all my endeavors.

Songs: We find them unpainted in our hands, throw them up into the air of our imagination, turning them in the colours we see after we close our eyes until they feel just right, and sometimes we catch them perfectly, without blemishing them...

I work in different styles, as the inspiration, dreams or bubonic plagiarism comes! I use Logic Pro X on a 27" iMac.
 
I write, produce and play all my own stuff (unless otherwise stated), 'sing' if unavoidable, play vintage Tokai Strats mainly, Steinberger, Gretsch, classical guitar, Fender Dreadnought, keyboards and sax. I use an iPad to control Logic Pro X and Omnisphere 2. I use Native Instrument's Komplete Ultimate 14 and my own organic samples. I love Hollow Sun's unique synths and samples too - The late Steve Howell's www.hollowsun.com 

I mix on Sennheiser HD 280 Pro's and HD 650's (closed and open headphones) when not making a bigger noise through Mackie studio monitors. I use Focusrite Clarett 2Pre ThunderBolt and Apogee audio interfaces, iSK condenser & AKG dynamic mics. 

Hardware: Feb 1978 Marshall JMP 50W Combo, BOO (http://www.booinstruments.com) & BOSS stomps. Rack: Lexicon, Pod XT Pro, E-MU, Alesis, BBE.

I’m a singer/songwriter from Guildford, Surrey, England. I started writing songs when I was 12 on a piano but really got into it when I started playing the guitar at 13/14. As with so many of us, career and family became the priority and I stopped writing over a 30 year period. Now I’ve retired, I’ve finally got time to write and record again and I love it! 
I play everything on the songs and record on my MacBook on GarageBand. Still learning!

I am simply a music lover, all kinds of music ranging from classical to hard rock.  I don't play many instruments except a little keyboard & guitar nor can I read notes.  However, that has not stopped me from composing songs of my own since sixteen.

I normally create my melodies either freely inside my mind or tailor to some pre-written lyrics or chords. Then I will try to 'materialize' them on my keyboard constrained by my music limitation of course.  As far as I'm concerned, singing is the worst part for me.

So in case you're wondering how a guy like this would sound, just spare some of your time for a listen.

Baby of the 80s, teen of the 90s, obsessed with the 60s and 70s; an FM wannabe in a Youtube world. I guess I just wasn't made for these times. I like songwriting in the Gershwin, Tin Pan Alley, Lennon/McCartney tradition. I prefer records to singles. I prefer three minutes to ten.

According to my mama, I was whistling before I learned to talk. I played organ in the Memphis garage rock scene between 2000 and 2016. I've done a lot of studio work, adding keys to records by songwriters that I really admire.

I'm now focused on recording my own songs. I have a minimal home recording set up with a laptop, microphones, cheap guitars, drums, piano, and a grab bag of other toys. All my lyrics rhyme with the truth, or at least I think they do. 

Life is short and there are more good songs then there are raindrops. Which is to say: thank you very much for lending me your ears.

Rock 'n' roll is dead, long live rock 'n' roll.

Prolific musician, author, photographer and oddity.  With influences ranging from the lofi pop of Guided by Voices, the gothic melodrama of Nick Cave, the glam of Bowie and the nakedness of Iggy Pop - this is Marc Freak.  Former frontman of Freak Circus and Dead Joe.  An experiment in DIY and lofi.  The odd bum note here, the even odder bum note there.  But with art do we care?
