This is an original song that recounts a sort of secret childhood sanctuary that was a simple ravine behind my grandparents’ home on Rowan Street in Danbury Connecticut. It bottomed out in a grove of maple trees that provided a shady canopy for a lazy little brook that ran between Rowan Street homes and the old Wooster Cemetery. The area was dark and cool, the ground all around was a thick mud that my friends and I pretended was life threatening quicksand. Like most favorite play areas for kids in that time, it was nothing spectacular, if not downright uninviting, but it was unforgettable as I look back with this simple song. Another recording taken right off my iPhone with some added harmonies and a touch of harmonica.
