With many percussive elements, and a vast array of soundscapes, this mix stands out for its clean sound and complex grooves organized in a smooth arrangement.

For MNMT 382 we are very happy to have @tatsuokifukuda, a highly skilled selector hailing from Japan who has been DJing since 2011. A key figure in the Fukuoka techno scene and founder of the Broad event series, where he brings artists from Japan and abroad every other month.

His mix is a deeply psychedelic trip with his own fresh twist on the legendary Japanese techno sound, expect a lot of twisted melodies, textured & pulsating rhythms and plenty of trippy bleeps for good measure.

The source of this 56 minute excerpt is the recording of my last extended dj set. It was performed on June 23 2023 at Badaboum in Paris. 

The show at Badaboum marked the end of a long series of all-night long sets which I have been performing over many years. As I have focused all my attention on playing live I consider this event and its recording as the last statement in my dj life. A closing chapter, so to speak.

As this set was my last extended dj set it features a mix of new material and personal favourites which I have enjoyed playing over the past years. This set was a long, intense ride into my music collection. I was fortunate enough to have a supportive crowd which was up for joining me for seven hours straight. It was a fitting way to close off a big part of my musical life. I would like to thank everyone who has come out to hear me dj in the last twenty years or more - your presence and support remains essential. In the future I hope to see you at one of my upcoming live shows. The journey of expression continues, taking a different shape, searching for new forms.

Continuum: a coherent whole characterized as a collection, sequence, or progression of values or elements varying by minute degrees.

The second stop as we travel through The Continuum, takes us into the sonic universe of Ryogo Yamamori. The Tokyo mainstay and underground veteran captivated us when we first visited Japan in 2019, with a set at Vent that left us speechless. Since then, he has been a favorite and one we have been following. His productions, always psychedelic but stripped-down, have made appearances in some of the techno heavyweights we all know, like Non Series, Navigare Audio, or Node Recordings. But most of his output can be found on his own fantastic label, Kagerou. 

For his Continuum contribution, Yamamori presents a slice of his take on psychedelic techno: a non-compromising approach, with an adventurous selection and impeccable mixing. One that brings the trippiness out of techno avoiding the cliches of the genre and that is undeniably Yamamori’s own vision and flavor: groovy but deep, atmospheric and hypnotic… but more importantly innovative and risky at the same time. All the ingredients you are used to, but resulting in a fresh, personal result. A selection including some of his own productions, some unreleased gems, and some “unknowns” for a dose of mystery. 

We are blessed to feature the Japanese producer and DJ with one of his rituals in our Continuum. A true master.

Unnatural Versions 012 | Khessä

"They were wild and crazy years." The Spanish techno icon discusses his early years in Madrid, running record labels and staying true to his sound for more than 30 years.

Spanish DJ and producer Oscar Mulero is a legend of underground techno. Since starting to play parties and make music more than 30 years ago, he's earned a reputation as an anti-conformist tastemaker who's adamantly stuck to his guns. While his trajectory began with Madrid's goth and punk clubs in the '90s, he eventually found techno in the early '00s and started two labels, PoleGroup and Warm Up, as homes for the hypnotic, spaced-out sound that's become his signature. 

In this RA Exchange, Mulero reflects on the early days of the Spanish techno scene and how it's evolved, as well as his own roots and influences. Today, the artist is as active as he's ever been, he discusses how he's maintained longevity as an artist in the face of changing trend, as well as his best practices for making music at home and on the road. Part of a new event series focussed on styles skirting what is widely embraced as ’techno music’, this first airdrop of the RYC squad promises to be a satisfying moment for all lovers of bold, boundary-pushing electronics. Clad in the austere industrial atmosphere of Berghain’s experimental-oriented subdivision, Saüle, the event gathers voices from distinct geographies and segments of the electronic music scene.
