Alexio (@a-lexio) is a dj and collector from Genova, born into a family with a great passion for classical music, soon discovers his love for the electronic sound, in all its shapes and genres.
He is now resident at Bonfim Club, the little gem on the sea in his hometown, and at the party "Disordine" which brought in Genova the essence of the underground for over a decade.
In his bag you can find mostly 90's sharp records, from techno to house, from electro to new beat and EBM, he likes to adapt himself to the place and the vibe, which is never the same.

After kicking off its journey with a rich well-received eleven-track compilation at the end of last year, the Saint Brieuc-based Estuary Tapes brings to the virtual shelves its second release. For the occasion, the promising French label welcomes skilled producer nICo to its roster. With previous works featured on HardFist, Inside Out, and Sinchi, just to name a few, the Italian producer refuses to have his sonority pigeonholed and manages to deliver an interesting palate of colourful pieces.

For his debut on Estuary, nICo presents the expertly constructed “Unexplored Earths”, a four-theme EP with a concerning message: “the quest for a new habitable planet” – something we might need way sooner than expected due to the insatiable greed of the abusers of our fragile and doomed little blue dot.

Premiered here, the insightful “The Red Sun” opens the fete wrapped in what nICo considered the correct aura for the EP: "spacey and acid vibes, dub percussions, and shamanic rhythms” which resulted in a mesmerising and emotive cut filled with “textures, deep atmospheres, and solar melodies.”

PREMIERE623 // nICo - The Red Sun

If you missed the original Secret Circuit album ("Green Mirror" 2xLP) which came out last year, it's been lauded as Eddie Ruscha's finest work and has been one of the label's best sellers (and some even saying the label's "best release").

To mark a year since its release 4 remixers were asked to re-interpret tracks from the album. As one would expect with original source material that ranges from minimal and space-y tech to properly drifting ambience, the pool of remixers (and the resultant remixes) are equally diverse. First up is Glasgow-based tropical traveller Kusht who turns the album's opening track "Undenying" into a trippy slo-mo chugfest. This is followed by Khidja's Andrei Rusu who takes on "Light On The Sand" which comes out transformed into a polyrhythmic Steve Reich-ian epic of stuttering synths and tuned percussion. The Froid Dub remix is as dubby and lo-fi as you'd expect from these two French dub-wave geniuses...and closing up is veteran Switzerland-based experimentalist Michal Turtle whose version takes things in a strange but familiarly emotive direction.

Highly wanted amongst collectors for its unique sound, this Italian psychedelic percussion heavy disco single was originally only released on 7" format sometime in the late 70s on the Idea label. Quite experimental for its time, it stands out not only for the reckless use of percussion but also the use of early synthesiser sounds in very rhythmic conscientious manners, some moments almost sounding as if a pioneering example of Acid House years before its time. While it seems like all possible percussion instrument sounds are chaotically employed into the drum salad that unfolds, the clavinet and vibraphone offer a contrasting dreamy nuance via a simple and slowly moving melody. Besides the original “Parte 02a” version this release comes with a new remix “Drum Implosion (Parte 10a)” further propelling the chaos commenced in the original release with the aid of flangers and delays, already striking the fancy of DJs like Marcell Dettmann. Severely remastered at Manmade mastering, now featured in 12” format with full cover artwork.
