Rudolf Abramov hit all Optimo Music’s buttons at once. Drums, energy, songs, instrumentals, super production, Post Punk echoing, dance floor destroying, home listening friendly, and completely unique.

Who are they and what are they about? Read on…

Rudolf Abramov is a duo based in Berlin. They seem to open a door to unexpected musical encounters. It’s an almost impossible task to sum up their sound in a comprehensible way, but in their own words their music is ‘a response to a seemingly endless conflict about disgust, acceptance and love.’ Since the duo likes to invite other musicians and fellow humans to add to their pieces, this often creates another layer to their unexpected musical encounters.

“Losing Perspective” is the result of a journey that began with a week-long recording session outside the city. Back in Berlin the skeletons of the track gradually grew in flesh, experience and emotion, describing this time in a vibrant and ever-changing city; a city where the faded colours sometimes seem more appealing than the unifying glow of the new.

In order to preserve for ourselves the conflicting colours in their fantastic disharmony, we have therefore watched the pieces change rather than moving them in a particular direction. The result is a number of tracks with different facets that derive from different moods and voices, indulging in diversity.

At the end of this process, we look back at this colourful collage and connect our own very personal history with it and both resolve in harmony. When asking the cat from our studio’s courtyard for example, she said that “Losing Perspective” was about stray tomcats who have lost their old home port to a newfangled establishment wandering randomly through the days in search of songbirds, distraction and rest. And we feel like she kinda has a point there.

'Aggelos first approached Lurid Music with the idea for this project a few months ago. We agreed on one condition, that all proceeds be donated to refugee causes, like we did with his Black Sea EP which supported the Syrian refugee crisis. When Russia invaded Ukraine, we decided our focus had to be helping the Ukrainian refugees who were forced to leave their homes in search of safe havens abroad.

We discussed this with most contributors to the project and the consensus was that donations should strictly go to humanitarian groups and not any armament funds. There were also some thoughts about helping conflict-affected peoples in other parts of the world but we decided it was too much to tackle for a relatively small project like this one.

Therefore, donations stemming from the sales of this release will be distributed to the following humanitarian groups currently active in Ukraine or neighboring countries welcoming refugees:

The artwork was provided by Bill Brown, a Maryland native who lives and works in Ukraine. When the war started, he made his way safely to Germany via Poland. This illustration is an homage to Maria Prymachenko’s “May That Nuclear War be Cursed!”, which also inspired the title of this release. In this bio about the new Dim Garden - A Dauntless Sprite Descends (Album) we are not going to define the concept of this musical jewel, since each of the selected tracks is a part of the astral journey in the enchanted forest of Dim Garden in The Hague. Choose the door from which you want to start the Album and you will have a different and mystical experience.

Close your eyes...can you feel it? giant mushrooms and animals running alongside us while they wink at us, so that we can continue to enter the forest while some magicians with giant long beards are playing synthesizers in the treetops in the light of the Moon.

When we believe that we have completed the entire forest, a giant light appears from the bottom of the forest and all the animals go towards it, to pay their respect. One of the Forest Gods of Dim Garden appeared... the white wizzard named ''Legowelt'' with a super magic remix and his fast paced take on the track ''Visions of Love'' and all his synths around him.
The housekeeper of the Forest is Jentlemen with her Remix of ''Na Mata''. Without realizing it, you have already been absorbed by the essence and atmosphere of Dim Garden... Open your eyes... or was it just a dream?

Every track has its own spirit, in a kind of a 90s journey way.
The compilation is a fascinating mixture of weird cosmic and slow goa sequences to more emotional places with powerful bassdriven downtempo techno and slightly trance influenced anthems as well as distinctive tribal acid easiness with melancholic pads and epic melodies.

Furthermore it involves faster loaded minimal hypnotic synth sounds and dark UK-House with a big-beat touch to it. Raw liquid floating sharp breaks melts into rave stompers which are inhabited by sensitive living microbes vibrating jungle atmospheres.

Final track in the running order is a deep and dubby downtempo dancehall track. Originally produced in the 90s, but recently finished by Phil, ‘Blossom Street Dub’ has an added synth line and an iconic King Tubby filter which help to enhance a time-warping, headrush effect. This track, alongside the ‘Hot Number (Alternative Version)’ B1 tune, will both be pressed for the very first time on vinyl, having been absent from the original ’91 test pressing.

Tagliabue’s impeccable groove and sound design combines avant-garde techno and trance aural textures. He arrives on Sound Metaphors’ Bless You label with four new pieces which mark once again his out-of-the-box music approach. A mix of ancestral weaves of Profonda Pulsione, unsettling atmospherics of Plasma and dense hypnotism of Medusa, Onda Sotto’s dominated by enveloping rhythms and transcendental atmosphere. Layered tracks that flowing over alternating cycles, the EP forms a collection of heavy sounds programmed for releasing deep unconscious pulsions and responding to the violence of the world, though not necessarily rationally.
