SS London Valour was a British merchant ship belonging to London & Overseas Freighters (LOF). She was built as an oil tanker in England in 1956 and converted into a bulk carrier in Italy in 1966. She was wrecked in a gale just outside the Port of Genoa in 1970, resulting in the deaths of 20 of the 58 people aboard (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS_London_Valour).

I'm calling this a "Concerto" because the cello is the featured player against the orchestra, and "Fantasia" because it seems appropriate: many sweeping melodic themes, no discernable structure, and not part of a larger work

 Produced for the Composer Contests Facebook group Melody challenge -- all the melodies consist of six notes: C, C#, Eb, F#, G, and A.

This was a part of a concept album that never took off.  This is the young man going to work in the big factory that keeps the town alive. Years later the factory would close. But for this scene, things are looking up.
