Jazzy synth improvisation saturated by Hammond B-3 and distorted Fender Guitar sounds. Some kind of illustration to impossible adventures of John Zorn in small russian metaphysical town Reutov.

Digital release, unexpected in some ways for me. This is some kind of blues - dark, psychedelic, uncommon. It's free from any emotional connotations, so it's sort of ultra-blues, inspired by precious ideas of Jose Ortega-y-Gasset, described in his Dehumanization of Art.

Somber meditativeness, improvisational melody, sexuality in its tanatous, macabrous manifestation, individualistic aggression, lots of vibrating electropiano and organ, overheated and pulsing like over the road heat haze sound, all of it together make the recipe of this EllektraJazz second release.

Part 1 – Divine Princesses/Ladies of Valhalla

Valkyrja is the 4th part of the Odin cycle and deals with the eponymous shield maidens of Valhalla
The biggest obstacle to overcome is the fetishism that started with the Victorian Romantics and which is perpetuated today by pop art images. Images from the Viking Age do not show scantily clad biker babes, but women dressed in the manner of the highest ladies of the elite. Such women were demure, aloof  and of course unavailable to all but those of the most noble rank. The Valkyrja were the divine daughters of Odin and therefore Princesses of the highest possible rank
By contrast much of the imagery today portrays them in a manner that in the Viking Age, would show them as little more than sex slaves; a status of women at the precise opposite end of the social spectrum. Such depiction would of course be taken as highly insulting and (given their nature)very unwise!.
Part one examines their lives in Valhalla as the High Status ladies that they were. 
Part two however examines the most problematic part of their nature. The winged messengers of fury and doom, driven by the will of their father Odin. The Valkyrja were not passive vessels for Odin’s fierce spirit, but were as conquered by it as were its mortal victims in combat. In that sense in the passion of the battle fury, their divine grace is utterly overcome and base passion given vent without let.
Part three is the exploration of how the Valkyrja would need to try (and fail?) to reconcile these two utterly conflicting but core characteristics of their nature and the exhaustion of the conflict.
Part four is a brief reprise of Pt1 and signifies the overcoming of exhaustion and the return of grace and commitment to duty.
It has been a complex piece that has taken me many months to properly conceptualise and realise. I hope you feel it was worth the effort.
