We are excited to announce that over the coming months we’ll be releasing a studio mix series from some of our wonderful wonky resident DJ’s.

First off the shelf is a delightful compilation from Mood Swing.

Taking a more soulful approach to the studio session, he’s meticulously mixed a swag of silky smooth jams, lit with a slow burning fuse that should have you’re tails wagging by the end of the journey. 

A journey best taken with a pineapple cocktail. Eased in with freshly picked neo soul & chilled funk, then lightly seasoned with rare cuts of disco. Finished off with a smattering of muddled lime and deep house.

Wonky Studio Mix Series - Mood Swing

Annually, Burning Man ignites to inspire art in the hearts of many.  One of the greatest impacts of BM in my opinion is that it changes people’s perception and understanding of both what ‘art’ is, how powerful it can be, and how it’s as much about the act of making it as the result.  Essentially, if art was a religion, then Burning Man would be it’s Mecca.

Personally, BM is my reminder to live an artful life, and as such, I have begun the tradition of trying to send fresh art to the playa annually to help co-create that place of magic so that I am at least there in spirit if I can’t be there in the flesh.

What I’ve created here is an eclectic mix of some of my favorite songs. This mix is full of head-bobbin, groovy tunes that put you in a flow state.  It’s for when you’re ready for a break from bangin’ dance tunes, but still want something with some energy that you can just chill to.  It’s great driving music, so that’s the inspiration for it’s title.

This piece of art comes from a deeply emotional place.  I've been going through a time of deep introspection lately, and frankly, was kind of feeling down. Then, recently, I got the hit to channel that emotion into art. I originally put this playlist together for a festival I played earlier this summer, but didn't record. Well... I put my home studio to use, and had a cathartic night of music to myself and this live recording is the result. It worked. My smile came back.

You can find her playing organic mid-tempo, tribal house, chunky bass, and everything in between. She tailors each set to the vibe; sometimes chill and nourishing.. sometimes an epic throw down! She’ll draw you in with pretty organica and before you know it, you’ll be stomping up a storm to some wild and juicy beats! 

Emmotica brings fierce warrior woman energy to the stage and often likes to saunter out from behind the decks to dance and spin fire between spinning tunes. She has played at iconic festivals including Rabbits Eat Lettuce, Initiation, Wizards of Kingston, and events with Love Camp (Jungle Love & Bohemian Beatfreaks), Misheen Productions, and the Wonky Queenslander. Each set is curated with intention to share her love of music and to nourish and connect with those listening. 

She has recently produced her own tracks - best described as a mix of warm basses, tribal flavours and earthy sounds - music that connects to her roots. Each track explores a form of the human experience and creates an urge.. to ‘move something’. 

She is also producing and spinning funky drum and bass tunes in the duo project ‘Crunch Factor’ with the talented bass wizard Swim Inc.
