For his debut release on Galletas Calientes Records, Dj Farrapo teamed up with music researcher, flute and accordion player Carlo Maver, to bring you “El Cabrón & Papacito“, an EP everyone can feel connected to, merging Latin musical elements, Drum ‘N’ Bass and Broken Beat.
First single “El Cabrón“, released Sept. 24 2021, is a powerful, gentle and fierce Cumbia beat with uplifting Drum ‘N’ Bass breaks, produced and composed with outstanding flutist and bandoneon player Carlo Maver. Usually drawing inspiration from his travel experiences, Carlo plays the Gaita (a traditional Colombian flute) on El Cabrón.
In October 2021, a second single will follow, along with some remixes produced by Intiche, Morru, Caribombo and Dj Sonorus in November.
On September 29, Radio Gladys Palmera will premiere the outstanding 4K animated video of El Cabrón, created by Dj Farrapo himself.

Latin and Caribbean rhythms (Cumbia? Reggae?) blended with vintage synths tweaking, a unique ability to fuse folk music with electronic elements; all of multi-instrumentalist Dutch producer Solo Moderna can be found in “Pongolongo”; a perfect opening to his forthcoming album “Daïsm”, which was mostly composed with female singer Krage, who effortlessly sings in a delicious mix of English, French, Spanish, Jamaican Patois, Quechua and self-made language. Together, they found their very own way of expressing their love for nature and diversity through universal language.
Pioneer of the “Global Bass” movement of the 2000s, Jazzdance music and Balkan Beats, with three albums and numerous remixes to his credit, signed to labels such as Tru Thoughts or Agogo, the Dutch producer has now reached the next level of mastering the fusion of genres.
Featured many times on BBC6 Music, Le Mellotron and more, his highly entertaining music, combined with a good dose of humour is most appreciated in Japan and the UK, and a tour is to be announced with his recently formed four-piece band for the release of the album.
From the 16 tracks of the album, 10 have been selected to be pressed on a vinyl illustrated by renowned Colombian artist Saga Uno.

Dengue Dengue Dengue’s latest release is named after the traditional dance called Son de los Diablos (Spanish for Sound of the Devils), which was brought over to Felipe Salmon and Rafael Pereira’s native Peru by the Spanish conquistadors, and consisted on a procession of dancers and musicians that took to the streets wearing devil masks. By enlisting Lima’s sizeable African slave population, this tradition incorporated the rhythms and dance styles that would eventually become known as Afroperuvian, one of the main elements of modern Peruvian music and culture and one that increasingly informs the music of Dengue Dengue Dengue, as was recently portrayed on RBMA’s ‘Afro-Peruvian Beats’ documentary. 

This inspiration is especially noticeable on the title track Son De Los Diablos, which incorporates traditional instruments such as the cajita, but also on Buscando, where the duo recorded with members of the Ballumbrosio family, the prominent lineage of musicians and dancers widely regarded as the the premiere ambassadors of Afroperuvian music, dance and culture. As the band explains, this song was “a big step forward”, as it was the first time the duo recorded every rhythmic element with live musicians, giving the track “the flow and cadence only live musicians can achieve”, as well as a vocal sample of one of Peru’s biggest stars Lucha Reyes. The EP continues with Flootz and Cobre, where the pair further explore the unique blend of entrancing South American and African rhythms and melodies that has become their signature sound.

From St Lucia to Jamaica to Ghana to Colombia, London born duo The Busy Twist have travelled the globe to create their dance floor killing productions. 

Their debut EP 'Friday Night' combines these cultures, respectfully crossing sound boundaries and joining the dots between Afro House, Kuduro, Latin and Uk Bass. 

The London Luanda Remix Series is the result of digging into 1970's popular music in Angola. Acclaimed by BBC radio host Annie Mac, and supported by the likes of Jillionaire, Buraka Som Sistema or Toddla T, some of these remixes are already being played throughout clubs and parties all over the world, but were never officially released. 

The release of these classic tribal reworks was eventually made possible thanks to the group’s recent trips to Colombia, where they worked alongside Systema Solar, Ghetto Kumbé, Nidia Gongora and Palenque Records, for an impressive variety of original productions, collaborations and remixes. 

In alliance with Colombia-based label Galletas Calientes Records, one of these fruitful encounters, the London Luanda Remix Series was finally materialised.
