BOMBAST’s EP “Where We’re From” sees a worldwide release on 4NC¥ (4NCURRENCY) 

4NC¥ proudly presents Bombast’s debut EP, “Where We’re From”. A subtle, classy four-track darling, which also offers a top notch service in booting the damn roof off. Prepare yourself for warm, sunny sounds bobbing on an ocean of bass, whilst remaining vigilant for unexpected storms. The album also features artwork by St. Petersburg based artist Dimarabik.

Of course the title track “Where We’re From”’s impressive feature roster speaks for itself. However, combined  with that double-bass slapping away in the low-mids and those rides keeping the listener fully elevated from the word go, it’s a no brainer. Kicking right in with DRS’ ever-poignant treatment (backed up by singer/songwriter ADMT, as they harmonise one of the hugest of choruses on record to date), through the crucial cuts by legendary DJ Blakey to the final blow of the sax, this is a big track which demands to be played loud.

Next, with “Relatively Speaking”, Bombast and his old buddy, Jimmy Lynn, take us back to their roots. This nu-jazzy number is one for both the musicians and the gear-heads. With Jimmy tastefully slaying a few classic pieces of hardware and Bombast chiming in with his gaggle of gritty FX and erratic arrangements. 
(Warning: this track may induce moments of heavy contemplation and perhaps even the occasional goosebump.)

 “All Falls Down” captures the fire of WWF and introduces it to that very same contemplative commotion for just over a minute of bass-heavy feels, punctuated with big-bodied snares and the warmth of a hang drum. Written & recorded in the depths of lockdown, Bombast’s wife Rachel leaves the track lingering with the
uncomfortable question, ‘What you gunna do when it all falls down?’ And finally we land on the “Where We’re From” Instrumental, a track which goes as far back as it does deep for Bombast. As the captivation of the vocals lifts, the emphasis shifts to the instrumentation, and a whole new spirit is born - warranting the track it’s original, working title, “Gallivant''.

Bombast’s background in tech-metal, followed fervently by experimental rap, are to blame for his subsequent electronic endeavours. A sound switched up so consistently it’s wigging out the WiFi—dire enough already, in the thick of the countryside. A laboured combination of vintage equipment floods the bloodstream of a MacBook Air (with a French keyboard), and the walls get mouldy in the winter time.
Regardless, Bombast is a fan first and a friend always, so the cold never stopped Stagecoach S6. Nor did it dampen the spirit of the city-spanning strut from the stop, and it was February 2020 he graduated DJGYM Oxford with distinction, and soon after joined forces with 4NC¥ for his first release.
