One of house’s most sought-after selectors, the prolific Darius Syrossian returns to Defected alongside US vocalist Jena for ‘E-Soul’. Growing up in the UK, the revered DJ and producer made a name for himself playing the country's most respected clubs, and in recent years his blossoming relationship with UK label Defected has been characterised by modern releases like ‘White Rabbit’, ‘Come On Come On’ and the omnipresent club cut ‘Back In The Dance’ on DFTD. Today, the acclaimed Moxy Muzik label boss shows no signs of stopping as he collaborates with Metatone-signed singer and songwriter Jena, whose previous Defected release ‘Better’ saw her collaborate with Ferreck Dawn. As Darius’s signature, expert production gives ‘E-Soul’ serious heat, Jena’s infectious top line soars above with ease. 'Little Horny Mess' immediately depicts a pastel-tinged vision of Miami in its hedonistic hay-day; a time rich with opportunity and free of consequence. Disco drums kick in all the right places while rich filters glide, breathing a vibrant, colourful air into vocals and guitar lines. Sassy flashes of brass drop in with hubris, punctuating the trip toward a heated breakdown that pops in a humid flurry of pure pop bliss. There is also a club mix which speeds up the tempo and strips things down a bit.

Shir Khan marks the 37th release on his infamous Black Jukebox imprint with an all-killer balearic house record courtesy of mysterious Cécille-affiliated Cabin Luv Affair hot on the heels of his debut album which has seen support from Fouk, Laurent Garnier, Jamie Jones, Mr. V and Archie Hamilton. 

Here, the masked master lays out 5 convivial cuts that sit in a particular pocket between House and Disco; one that has historically been occupied by the likes of Pepe Bradock, Damiano Von Eckert and Andrés. A spot classically characterised by beautifully imperfect, sample-heavy productions that are shot through with palpable depth and soul.

The record sets sail with ’Te Siento’. Polyrhythmic percussion bubbles across the surface of a deep sonic pool that forms a bed for vivacious drums, romantic vocals and a spine-tingling strings riff. A hazy opening clears out before the backbone of recording shines through; an uplifting 90s piano motif that's later picked up by Xylophone tones while a tight, truncated bass line punches away at the track's core.

'Dance With Us' then rolls out a beautifully seductive mood. Softly shifting synth chords, a loose-limbed drum break and hedonic vocals whip up a hot and heavy vibe that shines with a distinctly Chicago-tinged elegance.

'Time Is Killing Us' follows up with an immaculately executed, 'last tune' House groove. A gentle but powerful euphoria is generated with swooning strings, more giddy piano riffs and another robust drum track that all gather momentum as progress rolls on. An ecstasy-crescendo forms before it crashes and fizzles before the lights go on.

'My Head Like Shibuya Crossing' then follows up with a tightly-knitted Deep House cut. Buttery melodies adorn an effortlessly kinetic bass groove before a delicate Japanese vocal bleeds into focus. As is the case with much of the record, the track graciously segues through its chapters with melody at the fore-front before 'Stuck On You' brings the record to a conclusion.
 
The quality runs right through to the close as the track bumps and hustles in a collection of snipped samples and totally irresistible percussion. A luscious vocal line carries the flame forwards, maintaining that sweet spot between playful and sophisticated making the tune a no-brainer for DJs looking to send a subtle spark out onto the floor.

Satori has been part of the DGTL family for a few years already and with this release his connection with the family will become even stronger. Satori is inspired to capture electronic world music, where he combines endless blends of seductive trance and mind-altering earthy tones. This resonates through all his music and even more so through this release.

About a year ago I launched my label IPSO. First release was a collab with Michael Mayer. We made Dogma 1 and 2, and the tracks have been in heavy rotation ever since. I remember a magical morning at Panorama Bar where we played Dogma 1. It was one of those moments we all live for, where everything fell in place. Magical.

This summer IPSO 002 is released and this time it's a collab with none other than Tiga. We spent a couple of great days in my Copenhagen Studio, and I'm really proud of what we came up with.
This is the first track "HAL" from the forthcoming IPSO 002 E.P.

Sweden’s Sailor & I begins to tease his much anticipated new album on Get Physical’s freshly launched and exciting sister label METAPHYSICAL with a first single from it. The fantastic 'Thinking About You' lands on October 23rd 2020, with the full album, Diving For Lost Treasure, due in January 2021. 

Swedish singer, producer and instrumentalist Sailor & I, is renowned for his outstanding live act having performed worldwide at key clubs and festivals. This multi-faceted artist has worked and performed alongside some of the industry’s finest names including Paul Woolford, DJ Tennis and M83 and has released an album and singles on Skint, Life and Death and Black Butter. 

The magical 'Thinking About You' is an idyllic pop-dance combination that has catchy vocal hooks that you will keep singing long after you hear them. The gorgeous piano chords compliment the breezy, heartfelt vocals and ride on a gently uplifting beat that is filled with summery good time vibes. The whole track washes over you like a warm ray of sun and leaves you feeling cleansed and content. 

This is a great taster that whets the appetite for more singles to come later this year ahead of the full album in January.

Phonk D is back on Exploited’s hallowed Black Jukebox series following the success of his #29 takeover earlier this year. You just can’t keep a good man down...

‘Let’s Shake’ leads the way with serious funk intent, mixing a thumping MJ-esque bassline with some of that late ‘70s / early ‘80s synth magic. Phasing guitar licks sidle up against spunky horn swells and sassy vocal blasts. It’s a track that has ‘party-starter’ written all over it.

‘Reality Dance’ is a chuggier beast, building slowly through looping guitar-and-bass plucks until a feel-good melody emerges. This low-slung, low-tempo groove is in no hurry to lay out its funky machinations, making for a perfect early-evening floor-filler as cocktail glasses clink and glitterballs bling.

‘Players Anthem’ chunks things up with conga-inflected groove and an arpeggiated bassline throb underpinning swooning female vocal harmonies. It rocks a simple arrangement that lets the groove do the talking, with sustained string notes adding an element of tension at the requisite moments.

‘No Limits’ sees Phonk D team up with old sparring partner Sascha Ciminiera for another hot collab. The bouncing off-beat groove pumps pleasingly in classic disco fashion, with a joyous mood built through Rhodesy chords and a scintillating synth line. Swelling horns are buried deep in the mix in the second half to help propel the track higher.

Wrapping up the year with another impressive collection of new music from some of house music’s rising stars and raw talents, Street Tracks Imprint Vol. 9 features a bumper six tracks of uplifting and deep 4/4 groovers.

ANZU delivers a fine disco powered, filtered funkster with ‘Time’, whilst Risque De Choc keeps with the ‘French touch’ style, flipping beats and slammin’ drums on the Roule inspired ‘Instrumental’. We couldn't start the new year more positively than with this incredibly unique disco, not disco, feel-good statement from House Music grandmaster Phil Fuldner, who we finally welcome back on Mother Recordings.

In this track, Phil quotes himself and plays around with a finely twisted synth line on a tingling 80s style bass line bed, in which the flawless guys from Raumakustik 
also play an important part with their creative input. 

We could have set off this wonderfully playful, and light-footed rocket only in winter, and then go crazy to this song at our favorite open airs till summer. But we are convinced that we will still be dancing to this banger in September 2021...and beyond!
