One of the brand-new tracks taken from James Curd mostly-retrospective debut album ‘Taking All This Time’, ‘1000 Years’ arrives to transport you into a warm summer haze and give another taste of this stunning record.
‘1000 Years’ is another exemplary Curd-cut, a melodic deep house beauty laced with a dulcet vocal from newcomer Natasha Lillith. Led by soulful, pulsing electric piano chords and a warm bassline, the groove has a little Brazilian feel to it, only heightened by summery guitar licks applied in just the right moments. Lillith's soft vocal tones are the perfect accompaniment for this balmy groove, transporting you instantly to a warm beach with sand between your toes.
French producer Kendal (Dischi Autunno/Ritmo Fatale) goes for a future garage vibe on his remix, where brooding synths soar atop peppy, pacey 2-step beats. Phunkadelica (Multinotes | Correspondant | Permanent Vacation | Innervisions | Engrave LTD), by contrast, opt for an Italo disco direction with an epic piano breakdown.

From Middlesbrough to Mexico; rising star Sahar (@saharsounds) follows up his Tong-hammered Paradiso release ‘Madi’ with a trip to the Naica mines, Chihuahua on Midnight People (@midnight_people). This one goes deep… 300 metres deep.

Welcome to ‘Naica’. The title track sets the scene; the kick drum and galloping bassline drill deep into the earth striking synth-rich minerals that shimmer with emotion, tension and raw energy.

We drill deeper again to find the ‘Cave Of Swords’. The slower tempo creating a tension and smouldering intensity before we’re suddenly hit with extreme blasts of euphoric heat and light. Inspired by the cave itself where crystals as long as a metre exist, there’s a sense of adventure, danger and awe running throughout.

We drill even deeper again to find the ‘Crystal Maze’. Slower, moodier, even more intense and driven by a taut, sinewy siren, we’re now 300m deep in a cave where crystals over 12 metres long have been growing for over 10,000 years, slow-cooked to perfection in the extreme heat of mother nature’s finest magma. And the only way back to the surface is through the rising, dubby ripples of Third Son’s remix. Glistening like the crystals themselves, like the whole EP this takes us from Naica to nice, from underearth to underground, from magma to magnificent. Feel the heat.

Exclusive: Robert Dietz - Kirby

The Live At Robert Johnson label is back with another EP coming from former Rhine-Main resident and Robert Johnson mainstay Robert Dietz, who makes his label debut with his Schnups four tracker. Fittingly the release has the catalogue no. 069, which you may know is the area code of the cities Frankfurt and Offenbach, where both the Robert Johnson label and club are located and, as beforementioned Robert comes from. The EP kicks off with Kirby, inspired by the identically Jump'n'Run character from the Nintendo games series, and comes in with an Acid influenced bassline which is combined with a Breaks note. However, the initially brought up (happy) Acid-bleeps become more and more dominant and are supported by discreet yet smoothly ensnaring synths that are inweaved into the track's body and create an overall harmonic symbiosis and interaction between the elements. 

Robert Dietz's EP Schnups will be released on Live At Robert Johnson on July 9th, 2021.

5YRS of DGTL Records is a perfect reflection of not just of the label itself but also its global event patron: headliners sitting equally alongside local talent and up-and-coming acts. Over the past five years, DGTL Records has grown into its own as a fully-fledged musical arm of the overall DGTL musical experience.

Mano Le Tough opens the release with the serene and heartfelt ‘Either 
Way’. He layers lighthearted guitar tabs, mesmerizing vocals and springy synths on each other to create a sublime affair that makes you reminisce and smile about the good things in life. Jimi Jules follows with ‘Anna Bolika’, a hypnotic and progressive track. It draws you in with constant chord progressions and mesmerizing sound 
design. Vocals are echoed cautiously to add to its ominous and eerie 
atmosphere. 

‘Polarity’ is Coloray's addition to the release. It features warm and granular synths, leaning towards the 8 bit retro synthwave sound, while rolling out a breakbeat drum pattern and heavy hitting kicks, with which he keeps the piece energetic and with a driving force throughout. Closing this first of four EP’s, Tjade presents ‘De Halve Maan’, a powerful tune for big rooms and big energy. Analogue synths, progressive bass lines and layers of melodic keys create a sense of revival and resurgence, with a hint of trance.
