Coming up in the southern French city of Montpellier, Yamen & EDA started out on their path towards being the credible DJs they are today by being dropped off at the city's day parties by their parents. As a result of this unlikely, but welcome scenario they became close friends as adolescents and found a true affinity working together. That relationship spilled over into the studio where the pair began to experiment and make their own music which blossomed into their debut release for Safari Numerique in 2012. In more recent years the pair have been supported by Adam Shelton and Subb-an's One Records camp with whom they now firmly form, part of the family. 

With One Records having long been regulars in our basement space, their upcoming takeover of Room Two this Saturday has offered Yamen and EDA their first opportunity to come to Farringdon and play so, we hooked up, found out a little bit more about their story and jacked in to their audio aesthetic in this exclusively prepared mixtape.

Set to build on Afterlife’s mesmerizing club concept that’s striking visual and musical identity has so far showcased at Off Sonar, ADE and Ibiza for a 13-week residency at Space, brand curator’s Tale Of Us have now added an extra dimension to its forward-thinking offering with a podcast series named ‘Afterlife Voyage’. 

Launching with a rare 2 hrs mix from Tale Of Us themselves, Afterlife Voyage 001 provides a unique insight into the duo’s ‘realm of consciousness’ and features a range of unreleased tracks and upcoming Afterlife releases. With names from the Afterlife record label also confirmed to contribute to this latest musical journey – their names yet to be revealed – the launch of the podcast series further emphasizes Tale Of Us’ growing dominance within the global club scene and reiterates Afterlife’s 360 degree exploration of music and the arts. 

Venturing to London this Friday 11th and Saturday 12th November for its UK debut, Afterlife will then head to in Miami for Art Basel on Saturday 3rd December for an engaging takeover that sees Marcel Dettmann and Recondite join proceedings.

Cityscape Sessions 161: Pole Folder

As the year draws to a close, it feels timely for us to share an archived set from One Records, recorded live in Room One on New Years’ Eve back in 2013.

As a regular showcase at the club, Adam Shelton and Subb-an’s high caliber house label has been an intrinsic part of our family for some time now. The pair have been programming regular take overs for half a decade now in Farringdon, giving platform to the talent that forms the backbone of their roster.

To frame the importance of this set and the pair being able to come back in 2017 they each had some words to offer on the topic…

“One of the great feelings in life is going into a New Year feeling positive about what’s ahead. We are really buzzed for this at One Records – the label is now 7 years old and we have been putting in a lot of hard work over that time. We’ve built a nice crew that we feel is forming naturally now, and have received a lot of support from clubs and promoters to help us get here. The number one spot for that love is fabric, we have been putting on label nights in the club for 5 years in Rooms Two and Three, and we’re over the moon that fabric is to stay open. This will continue to provide a home for many labels from around the world and to offer the unrivalled support it does to us all. One of the biggest sets I have had so far was being asked to play on New Years’ Eve in Room One alongside Subb-an back in 2013, so it’s a pleasure to share this set for everyone.” – Adam Shelton

“For me I grew up with fabric and have been schooled by Craig and Terry, the place is an absolute institution and I feel honoured every time I play. When Adam and myself were asked to open up Room One for New Years’ Eve it was the perfect way to see out the year, and it’s great we have a chance to hear it again.
