Chimpo B2B Barely Legal ft. Trigga & Fallacy - FABRICLIVE x Hit & Run Mix

Leading up to the launch of FABRICLIVE 75: Elijah & Skilliam, we asked Elijah if he wouldn’t mind committing some of his thought processes to paper and sharing how they went about planning the launch party’s lineup. It’s a landmark event for the guys in a few ways with it being the very first Butterz Room One takeover, the launch party for their FABRICLIVE CD and a lineup that doesn’t actually feature anyone who’s released a record on the Butterz label before, so we dutifully picked his brain as best we could as the man’s jacket potato cooled somewhere in the background. 

First up is DJ Spooky (pictured), who's also kindly put together a 50 minute mix that will further outline a few of the reasons Elijah's putting him on on Friday 16th May...

“Spooky is a DJ's DJ," Elijah begins. "With over ten years of pirate radio shows, a record collection worth roughly the same as a deposit on a house plus years of releases and remixes under his belt, we thought he would be the perfect person to open up the night."

30 years of Fuse means 30 years of road paving. 

In over a quarter century, Fuse has stood the test of time by rooting itself in ageless music and employing pioneering artists - large or small, international or local - to command the decks of Belgium’s longest running dance floor. A celebration of this legacy and the renewed imprint is in order, coming in the form of a 30 track compilation of techno’s best and brightest from around the world. One track for one year, this collection of recordings highlights the status quo of enduring club music, beginning with a nod to the past: a re-release of Jeff Mills iconic ‘Step to Enchantment’ from 1993. This glance to the past quickly shoots us forward into the current state of techno with legendary artists like Planetary Assault Systems, DVS1, Steffi, Rødhåd, Donato Dozzy, DJ Nobu and many others who headlined the club in recent years. Cementing itself as a respected escapist institution, Fuse also calls on its growing local scene to prove why Brussels continues to remain a reference in the scene even outside of its own borders.

Puerto Rican artist Cerrot, currently based
in Barcelona, has captivated audiences with
a series of remarkable releases in recent
years. His debut album “Iteritax” on Nina
Kraviz’s esteemed label Trip Recordings was a
significant milestone in his career, followed
by his latest masterpiece “Butterfly Effect.”
Additionally, Cerrot has showcased his music
on Anetha’s “Mama Told Ya” label, contributing
to the “Air” compilation. Drawing inspiration
from visionary maestros such as Rod Modell,
John Beltran, Fumiya Tanaka, and Underworld,
Cerrot’s sonic creations blend old school
vibes with avant-garde techno and experimental
electronic music. With his distinctive sound,
Cerrot has graced prestigious stages across
Europe, including prominent events like
Hivernacle in Barcelona, Printworks in London,
Aquasella Festival in Asturias, and more.

O Mais Baixo é um colectivo dedicado à divulgação da cultura soundsystem e de todo o movimento BASS, desde o clássico dub dos anos 70 à música eletrónica mais futurista.

Criado em 2011, inicialmente marcou a sua posição em território nacional através de um portal digital que permitia a DJs e produtores portugueses partilhar e promover o seu trabalho, tornando-se rapidamente num ponto de referência para os ouvintes de Bass Music em Portugal.
Nos anos seguintes o Mais Baixo expandiu-se para uma plataforma com múltiplas valências: produção de eventos, netlabel, host de programas de rádio, redação de artigos para revista, promoção de DJs, desenvolvimento web/apps e até construção de soundsystem.

No currículo conta já com mais de 25 festas, convidando artistas portugueses e internacionais a tocar em locais como o LX Faktory, Clube Ferroviário, EKA, Festival Free Flow ou ZERO. Também durante 3 anos manteve uma residência mensal no Groove Bar (Bairro Alto) e em 2013 tornou-se parceiro oficial do Outlook Festival, o maior festival de Bass Music da Europa.

Não estando ligado a um estilo musical em exclusivo, o Mais Baixo foi responsável pela edição de 2 compilações que abrangem diversos gêneros como o Drum'n'Bass, UK Garage, Dubstep ou Grime. Portuguese Deep Frequencies Vol. 1 e Vol. 2 contam com a participação de 30 produtores portugueses e tiveram o apoio de vários meios de comunicação, incluindo a Rádio Oxigénio ou o programa Ginga Beat da Antena3.

Após a experiência de vários anos a projetar internacionalmente o trabalho de DJs portugueses em duas das rádios online londrinas com mais atividade no meio, em 2018 o foco do colectivo virou-se para o público nacional com a criação do “Pressão Sonora” - programa com transmissão semanal na Rádio Oxigénio (102.6 FM).

A paixão do colectivo pela música "física" tornou-se também na força motivadora para a construção de um soundsystem artesanal, todo idealizado na mensagem a ser transmitida: BASS MUSIC. Os dois últimos anos foram dedicados à sua construção e afinação para que seja possível apresentar uma sonoridade diferente e experiência única ao público.
