this music was collected in preparation for the Eris and Octo Octa’s T4T Forest Rave stage at Draaimolen.
i’ve wanted for a while to make sense of these tracks that feel to me so transcendental and higher than most music.
they bring with them ancestral knowledge on the importance of gathering and togetherness and bind those experiences with nature elements that hit gutural parts of my senses.
it’s visually clear how my body can’t stop jerking and shimmering from the intricate genius percussion in them.
they manage very successfully to trigger a hard rave feeling through kind melodies and heart warming spirit, there’s no violence here

i could say much more but it’s maybe silly to try to make too much sense of the feeling this music gives me
maybe you can feel it too

on a final note, i fought my genre bending tendencies hard for this one and kept, for the most, the 4/4 going mostly because i needed a set to listen to on my runs and the consistent repetition of the kick activates a higher sense during the activity

Acclaimed producer, DJ and community leader TYGAPAW (@tygapaw) is one of the contemporary guiding lights of the New York club scene. Creating multiple spaces for the city’s LGBTQ+ community to thrive within nightlife culture, their 2020 debut album Get Free acted as a rallying cry to dismantle patriarchy, racism and queerphobia set to some of the most full bodied, soul-rendering electronic music of recent memory. Today, TYGAPAW returns with a brand new single, ‘MYSM’, as well as announcing their signing to fabric Originals.


Anchored by an authoritative, low-end heavy kick, 'MYSM' combines distorted, clattering percussion with a flurry of bass notes with a seductive vocal refrain. That refrain, while swathed in autotune and reverb, is punctuated with whispered thoughts that float above the track's highly textured sonic tapestry in a way that makes the track as much of a spiritual experience as it is a hedonistic one, purpose built for clubs. The track's groove buries itself within the consciousness - creating a hypnotic atmosphere that while rousing in nature, remains mesmerising enough to take the listener beyond the environment they are listening to the track within.

« 58 minutes between hormones » playing on Caglar’s turntables while we write these words behind the decks. Istanbul is full of great surprises but this one was one of the best. 

Some weeks ago, Caglar aka MX.SÜR spontaneously invited us to see them play at @mecra, a queer friendly bar in the neighbourhood of Kadıköy. Drag shows, classical pop music and an instant connexion with a great artist and important figure of the city’s queer scene. 

« Spontaneous » is a word we practise a lot because we believe it brings us back to a strong childhood feeling. There is something almost mystical about spontaneously making a decision. There is adrenaline. No explanations. Diving into the instant idea and making something out of it. With a title referring to the craving for longer hours of night life in the city - while the government used pandemic as an excuse to ban music after 01am -  Caglar’s 2hours mix celebrate their community skill to always find find ways to dancing long hours and carry on the club culture.

Ever since 2007, Mx.Sür has been aiming at contributing to the unifying power of music and dance as a person behind the decks. Hacking life by means of nightlife culture and calibrating between the genres, Mx.Sür is one of the procreators of Istanbul’s unique spaces; Wake Up Call, Suma Beach and Mama. Standing as one of the scene’s most outspoken queer voices, they are also behind prolific party series such as Come to Mama!, TUTTIFRUTTI and XES. 

Mx. Sür’s latest Project comes in the form of their founded label, XSM Recordings (Ex- Stepmother Recordings), the slutty and revolutionary motherhood projects that expands and queers the boundaries of definitions, which made quite the first impression with the release of “ALAN2020”, a pride parade anthem by Mx. Sür and Kübra Uzun that brought together, for the time of a high visual music video, all of the city’s queers together to scream their existence matters. Recently, they have been attempting at shifting to mommy era by releasing new records via XSM Recordings and organising XSM events.
