Presenting at the Meta Moto premiere series is the remarkable Greek label, Dystatik, curated by Dry Feel. For the second consecutive year, they enchant us with a distinct and intriguing synth sound, and today is no exception. Ofelia Ortodoxa, under Dystatik, unveils the latest release titled "Basics For Sadness," a six-track album available on tape. The digital release is scheduled for January 29th, and we're treating ourselves to a sneak peek with the track "I Can Tell You Anymore."

About the release:
Columbian DJ and producer Ofelia Ortodoxa makes a triumphant return to Dystatik, marking his debut album on the label. Hailing as one of Colombia's most expressive and interesting electronic music creators, Ofelia delves into various genres, from electro to ambient. "Basics For Sadness" is a collection of six tracks, drawing inspiration from old cassette recordings and featuring new collaborations with fellow artists. The result is a potent EP characterized by minimal synth and dark wave aesthetics, all enveloped in a nostalgic ambiance.

In 2010 Julie-Morand Ferron and Éric Trottier formed one of the most exciting duos in the Canadian electronic music scene. As Violence they created a distinct sound that captured all of their energy and enthusiasm for the things they held dear in the world around them. Since their relationship formed as teenagers, they went on to become creative partners in a constant exchange of musical and artistic ideas. Sadly, Julie passed away in 2022. She left a rich legacy behind, both as a devoted mother and also in her work as an eminent scientist, published in prestigious scientific journals. In her work as a formidable performer, she created Violence's last album as a duo with her partner Éric.

I wrote this song thinking about the scary, funny, horror comedies I watched as a kid: Casper, The Addams Family, Beetlejuice. Rising from the Dead is a Halloween tale - not to be taken too seriously - about a 19th century woman who died, poisoned by her husband, and who seeks revenge in one last dance with her killer.
