LYO presents EDF "Electronique De France" (Snippets) OUT 19/08/2024

Fabrizio Mammarella is an influential Italian selector, producer, and label owner with a significant discography that includes club anthems, remixes, and successful collaborations with Lauer (as Black Spuma), Rodion, or as Clap Rules.
 
Since his debut release in 2004, Fabrizio has consistently delivered hits for renowned labels such as DFA, Correspondant, Les Disques De La Mort, or Future Boogie.
 
He co-founded Black Spuma with Lauer, also known for Tuff City Kids or Talamanca System among other monikers. Their 2015 debut EP "Oasi" combined modern italo with house influences. Both artists have a history of quality EPs on labels like Running Back, Beats In Space, or Permanent Vacation (home of their debut album in 2023 as well).
 
As a DJ and label owner, he splits his time between Chieti and Berlin. With Franz Scala, he runs Slow Motion Records and its sub-label Wrong Era, championing the “Italian Dance Wave” sound that spans from italo disco to progressive house. These labels have attracted a global roster of artists, reinforcing Italy’s influence in the electronic music scene.
 
Mammarella’s dedication to honoring Italy’s musical heritage while innovating contemporary sounds has made him a big name in modern dance music. As a producer, DJ, and label boss, he continues to shape the landscape of electronic music, ensuring its vibrancy. Mammarella’s music is a blend of old and new, described as “music for dancefloors made with old synthesizers, drum machines, and a computer.”

Andrey Sirotkin makes a remarkable debut on THISBE Recordings with the single “Untouchable”, a synth-infused slow techno track with an electric 80s feel, that should awaken every listener’s imagination from start to finish. The Kyiv-based producer, known for his fine analogically produced leftfield techno tracks released - among others - on Rune Records and Mystictrax and his own label Vyrii records, comes up once again with an original production which strikes the right emotional balance between melancholy and euphoria.

Initially produced as an instrumental tune, such an atmospheric track was begging for an extra melodic vocal ­input, and this is where Pyrame comes into play. Indeed, “Untouchable” features the Berlin-based lyricist and vocalist who conveys a warning message about humankind being reduced to a simple product in modern society, a lame unit in a world driven by statistics where everything is measured and quantified. The writing is on the wall: with “Untouchable”, Pyrame raises awareness about losing every aspect of our freedom, privacy and unbiased opinion. Scary, with the hope of getting sometime, somehow, out of it. We must.

In order to add some other perspectives to “Untouchable” when it comes to genres, the EP is completed by a deep techno remix by Joseph S Joyce, A Caribbean rework by A-Tweed & Oltrefuturo - which also got declined into a dub version - as well as an electro mix by Acid Washed.

WPP stands for Witness Protection Program, a space for artists to bathe in anonymity. To release music that they wouldn’t be able to release otherwise. It's the non-official Worldwide Peace Project.

Ecstatic Peace is more than a musical offering — it's a proposition that peace and ecstasy can coexist on the dance floor. These tracks portray a yearning for better times, serving as both wishful thinking and a coping mechanism for producer Davin Varda.

Compelled to channel his frustration with the current state of affairs into a more constructive effort, Varda has created two powerful tracks.
