"I'm finally enjoying what I built." The DJ and producer talks about 30 years in the music industry and what it means to live a creative life.

Caroline Hervé, AKA Kittin (FKA Miss Kittin), is a household name, primarily known for her contributions to the world of electroclash. As part of the duo Miss Kittin & The Hacker, Hervé wrote music that inspired a generation of artists drawn to electroclash's punky aesthetics, no-nonsense synth production and humorous, ironic lyrics and vocal delivery. In this Exchange, she unpacks how the electroclash scene became a home for artists seeking to push back against the rigidity of techno, ushering in a vanguard of performers like Peaches who created a safe space for queerness and unconventional femininity in the early 00s. 

Now 50 years old, Hervé is still very much active on the touring circuit. Behind the decks she's as likely to play synth wave and electro as she is to play peak-time techno, and in the studio, her creativity knows no bounds. Much of her latest chapter has been defined by learning to age gracefully in the music industry, especially given the undue expectations and double standards placed on women. "I've made a decision never to touch my face," she says. "My boobs are getting bigger. I'm gaining weight. I'm reaching menopause soon. But these are things we need to talk about." shakti's ( @sofia-builes ) music does not follow rules. Her art is built on structures that collapse and are reborn in eternal cycles, stripping music of its rhythmic conventions and taking it into the unknown. With ILLUD TEMPUS, he immerses us in a sonic exploration that defies time, taking us into a space where repetition is not just a simple recurrence, but the echo of a cosmic truth that manifests itself in ever-changing patterns.

Inspired by the concept of “that time”, a primordial state where the divine and the human intertwine in infinite cycles, this work transcends the merely musical and becomes an exercise in altered perception. ILLUD TEMPUS is a journey towards the eternal return, a confrontation with the idea that everything that has happened in the universe will repeat itself endlessly, identical and immutable.

From the ancient Babylonian myths that spoke of the destruction and rebirth of the cosmos to the Pythagorean and Stoic vision of the great conflagration, Shakti channels these principles into a dark, dense and visceral sound, where music unfolds as a living entity in constant regeneration. Each track is a passage to a time out of time, where erratic rhythms, abrasive textures and ethereal atmospheres confront us with the haunting notion of an inescapable destiny.

The patterns of ILLUD TEMPUS are abstract constructions that, like primordial forces, shape and deform reality at will. Percussion emerges from the depths of an unfathomable abyss, dislocated and devoid of familiarity. The layers of sound expand and contract like waves in a sea of fluctuating energy. Everything we hear here is at once past, present and future, coexisting in a single vibration that resonates in our consciousness.

With this EP, Shakti redefines the limits of experimental music, immersing us in a trance-like state where linearity ceases to exist and what remains is only the incessant cycle of creation, transformation and destruction. ILLUD TEMPUS is a sensory experience that confronts us with the very nature of time and drags us into a state of altered perception, where the inevitable repeats itself, over and over again, in an eternal and fascinating sound loop.

Osvald and Aske Lund Rønde are a genius duo dj and producer from Copenhagen. They are running the infamous labels BunkerBauer and V.A.L.I.S. records and are known for their finest record collection and musical knowledge in Trance music.
Their unique sound takes you to another dimension, and they prepared for us a non melodic goa mix with weird stuff from the back of the record collection.
The 2 following hours are under GTI's and Dj Sueur's control.
