Ballad for a Ballad Singer

A wonderfully rich melodic rock track called Newly by Stephen aka TexMex Shaman, abbreviated TMS that I upon the first listen, fell madly in love with and just had to cover asap! Okay, well it was at first TMS's proposition-idea, just for fun, to pick a song from each other to cover and so I picked Newly if you all must really know how this track creation came about. I was like, okay let's do it! I was so excited to try and attempt to cover and in all honesty, I had so much fun learning Stephen's Newly tune and just couldn't stop playing it day and night, day after day for nearly a week or so. His melodic guitar licks were not only hypnotizing-elating but also mega addictive like candy-yum-goodness. When I finally sent the finished track over to Stephen, his reaction came to me as a huge surprise...he was actually totally thrilled, deeply touched & wanted to post on his SC page right away. Wow, I couldn't be any more happier that he'd embraced my humble sonic expression whole heart-ed-ly and more. Hope you'll enjoy my version of TMS's track Newly as well as his awesome own. It was inspired by many of song writers of my parent’s era like  Bob Dylan, Peter Yarrow, Arlo Guthrie, Bob Marley, Cat Stevens, Bonnie Raitt, Judy Collins, and todays peace seekers like Alicia Keys, Bruce Springsteen, Lenny Kravitz, Taylor Swift and others. Better Days

I made a first attempt at Pink Floyd's "Brain Damage->Eclipse" from Dark Side of the Moon. I played the song on acoustic guitar rather than electric guitar which is used on the album. I overdubbed bass and also harmonies. The song "Eclipse" has a whole choral backing section and I did four vocal overdubs (including some acapella acrobatics) to approximate the sound. Then I had my friend WT overdub drums. The drums add so much to the chorus. I'm grateful to her! It was fun to try a less covered Floyd song.

Irish Musician & Singer Songwriter who decided a few years ago to start creating music again after many years of trying to ignore the call. I also decided to post whatever I created somewhere in case anyone cared to listen, even by accident! What I did not envision was finding a community of outstanding musicians, truly world class talent and fantastic people here on SoundCloud.

I never dreamed I would also have the opportunity to create music with some of these amazing people and it has been a true joy to be given the opportunity to work with some of these gifted generous people and make music I am so proud of.
